J. Bosley, how did you close it off and how do you keep it ventilated? I've considered selling them but my little brother loves them and I really want to keep them for him.

You could use kiln dried pine shavings or aspen shavings with a thick layer of straw on top.:wave: That's what I want to use. A straw bale costs about $1-$2 around here. and the shavings cost(big bagged bale from walmart or tractor supply co.) $10-$14.

I used to buy that expensive hay from the petstore it like 23$ per 95oz! I bought that for a couple of years then thought 'why in the world am I paying 23$ for 95oz of dried grass?' Now I buy bales for my bunnies.
My rabbit has the same thing! It is'nt loud but when you put your ear close to his nose you can hear slightly squeaky wheeshing sounds and there is no mucus or anything stuck inside!!!
