Not Eating and What Seems to be Hiccups

My 4 year old rabbit Loki is a big eater usually and will bounce up in excitement at the sound of food being chopped, hay being moved, or pellet bags crinkling. One morning 2 months ago, he refused all food and lay on the couch until about 1pm when I cut up an apple to eat-- Loki got really...

All these suggestions are what I do with my rabbit and they seem to work! Hopefully they will help you as well.

    Excessive Honking at Dinner Time

Hi - my bunny did like to throw around his dish too so I got him a bowl that attaches higher up to the side of his cage and now he just shoves his face in at dinner time! :happybunny: The throwing things around habit just seems to be out of excitement and a supreme needs to eat RIGHT away...

    Lots of Bunny Flops!

My bunny flops when he's super relaxed and is thinking that nothing's out to get him! He's also in the living room so he gets to see everything and one part of the cage is against a wall so it seems secure too. :) :happybunny:

    Trimming Nails

Hi - if this is still relevant, sometimes I wrap my BIG bunny up like a burrito in a towel with only the paw that I want to trim the nails off of sticking out. This allows me to trim them myself :) Other times, I have someone rub Loki's head to calm him down and we give him some nom noms to...

    Help

Also, your bunny is not used to eating hay all day, so be careful about gut stasis. Introduce everything bits at a time and you may have a happier and healthier bunny!

    Help

What type of pellets? And yes, any and all changes puts stress on the rabbit - they are very much creatures of habit. You might want to wait a few days to see if your rabbit gets used to the pellets. As long as they eat the hay then their diet will be okay. Happy binkies come and go so I...

    Help

Hi there! While your bunny may love the taste of pellets and nuts, that's not the best diet for him/her. Hay is extremely important to feed your bunny to help with digestion and pooping habits. Here are some articles from the Rabbit Society that may help you with the portions of what you...

Where have all the rabbits gone?

Hello! I'm originally from Toronto, but I'm in the Kingston area for now. I have an American White rabbit - if I find any Champagne d'argent bunny owners around I will let you know!

    Bathe your bunny?

What about when my bunny sits in his litter box, and because he's an American White, his white fur goes brown? I tried to wipe it off, but the fur seems stained and bunny is not having any luck cleaning it by himself.

    Litter training?

Hi! This is super helpful as I've been doing this now. I used to have a wire cage bottom so he would poop everywhere and pee on both back corners of his cage. Now that I've switched to a litter box, Loki is still pooping everywhere, and peeing sometimes in the litter box! He is about 1 years old...

    Weird Paw Patting!

He didn't wash his face or anything after! Usually when he's about to wash, he sticks both arms out pin straight and then licks his front paws.
