    Hershel and nipping

alright. thank you both!!! He is neutered, though i'm guessing he still has the hormones in him since he was just neutered on thursday. I will make sure to not pet him next time he nips at me, don't want him to get in the habit!!!

    Hershel and nipping

I just got Hershel on friday and we are in the midst of bonding! He is a very sweet man, who is taking more and more steps to come for pets and to hang around me (as opposed to just running around my room). I've noticed that he nips quite a bit, and i'm not sure why. I've never owned a rabbit...

    something wrong with Hershel?

It's definitely not a URV, he isn't sneezing or showing any other symptoms of a respiratory problem. He did have a full physical while at the shelter (we have an exotic vet that comes in and does exams on them). He has a problem with excess porphorin pigments in his urine (which makes it red)...

    something wrong with Hershel?

I just got Hershel on friday, and since then i've noticed that he has been peeing and pooping less than what he normally does. I got him from the humane society where i work, and so i know his bathroom habits (he was a very dirty boy, peed and pooped everywhere). He also doesn't seem to be...

    HI!

Thanks everyone!!! I brought him home a little over 24 hours ago and he seems to be adjusting well. He is very adventurous and such a brave boy (seems quite fond of my guinea pigs in the cage next to him) and also seems to like the cats (they are afraid of him lol). I made sure to keep the...

    HI!

He is definitely a mini rex (might be crossed with something else though), his fur is really velvetty (though it totally doesn't look like it in the picture). When i get him i will take pictures of him (he's getting surgery on thursday, and i will be getting him on friday :P )

    Red Urine question

ya, it's prob a good idea to get his kidney/liver checked out (not sure how old he is, but his previous family had never taken him to a vet or anything). Someone from work was telling me it may be an excess amount of iron in his system and subcutaneous fluids will help to get some of them out...

    Red Urine question

They know it isn't blood, they have tested it. personally i don't think it looks like blood but apparently others do (people complained about him being up in adoptions, not realizing that it would get him killed). It was really really red when he first came in, however it's still an orange red...

    Red Urine question

I've recently adopted a rabbit (Professor Jonathan Withers) from the humane society where i work. He was deemed un-adoptable because people complained that his red urine looked like blood. He is a very sweet boy and i couldn't let him to euthanized for such a stupid reason (rescue organizations...
