    Emmy's head tilt

You're so sweet! Thank you! She is doing great! Her head barely tilts, if at all and she is completely normal in every other way! She is still on meds, she has just a few days left. Today she even took her pill without me mashing it and putting it on greens! She's a wonderful rabbit! She...

(baytril) treatment - problem giving injections

I'm treating my bunny now for head tilt. When it first happened I was scared to death. I still worry but she's very much improved. The thing is with head tilt it seems it is obviously hard to diagnose exactly what the issue is that is causing it and there are lots of differing opinions on...

    Emmy's head tilt

And we definitely have both animals on medication for at least a month for Baytril and 28 days for Panacur. The vet felt that Panacur wasn't harmful and we're using a probiotic as well which will help the gut so that's why we didn't quit it. If Emmy gets worse I'll request something stronger...

    Emmy's head tilt

Thank you! The piggy, Rosie, saw the vet today. She's on Baytril and Panacur like Emmy since we're seeing improvements daily. Emmy is doing great except for the tilt which improves very slighty every day. Emmy is rambuctious again and if she weren't ill I'd have her spayed asap since her...

    Help ASAP! Bunny won't eat?

babybunnies, I'm glad your bunny is better. I know it's hard to spend money you don't have on vet visits but think of it this way, you have peace of mind knowing that she's OK now and out of the woods. It hurts to spend funds you don't have to be told that they're fine but at the same time...

    Emmy's head tilt

So now our guinea pig seems to be suffering from the beginning stages of head tilt. She seems like she's a bit 'off'. She's eating, making all her normal noises, drinking, pooping and all that but seems clumsy. The pig and rabbit do not share the same space, they are in different rooms. We...

    Emmy's head tilt

My vet mentioned another antibiotic which I have no problem trying but it'll be Monday before I can get it because of the holiday. In the mean time she's still doing well. No falling over, eating like a horse, pooping and peeing normally and tonight she was actually very peppy! She was...

    Emmy's head tilt

Thanks for posting and sharing your thoughts. Yes, the vet put her on Panacur to rule out the parasite which neither of us is sure about so we felt it was better safe than sorry. If there's no improvement after the Panacur then she'll go on another antibiotic. I definitely agree that head...

    Emmy's head tilt

Update on Emmy: She is alert and bright eyed this morning after a breakfast of kale, spinach and parsley. I discovered that her Baytril can be made into a paste and her kale dipped in it. She ate it with no hesitation! This is far less stressful than forcing it on her by syringe. Her Panacur...

    Emmy's head tilt

Thank you for the encouragement. Her head tilt is much better when she's laying down and it seems that she's dealing with her occasional 'roll over' better. She doesn't seem to panic over it but just rolls once then rights herself. I feel encouraged though! She's a sweet girl!

    Emmy's head tilt

Here's a pic of Emmy with her bunny bumpers and her baby. She seems content and comfortable.

    Emmy's head tilt

The vet has added Panacur (sp?). If there's no improvement with it then we'll switch to a different antibiotic. Emmy is eating well though so that gives me hope.

    Emmy's head tilt

Thank you, kitty! I put rolled towels around the edges of her home last night and they worked! We had a peaceful night and she looks more alert today than she did yesterday! She's already eaten a good bit of spinach and fresh hay! She is now completely stretched out, feet andall, looking...

    Emmy's head tilt

Bunnylova, thank you. I'm afraid of Emmy dying from this. I held her last night worrying when she was very still that she had passed on. Then she'd do a little bunny purr and I'd feel so relieved. I'm simply afraid.

    Emmy's head tilt

Thank you. I've been reading all the different stories since I posted. It's all very helpful. My vet will call me tomorrow once she discusses alternative meds with an exotic vet. One thing that gives me hope is her appetite improving but I am baffled by the dizziness she's experiencing just...
