I have a female Dutch bunny, spayed since one year. Her old air is loose but doesn't come off unless I pull it (gently!). Is this the result of her spay? I know that in longer haired female dogs this is the case. She looks terrible but is healthy with a good life.

MIne is different; it is plastic coated wire, about 2 x 4 inch. I was worried that they would chew through solid plastic.

I just finished a project like this but have the wire on top of the soil to prevent it from breaking down in the dirt. Next step is to put bark over it. I got this plastic covered field fence at Home Depot. It is not the tough style but a lighter quality that easily bends over the soil's uneven...

My plan is to put a layer of bark and on top of that a layer of straw. What is safe bark? I know not to use pine or cedar.

I wasn't very clear. I covered the ground with wire so they can no longer dig themselves out. I think I will try straw after reading about the disadvantages of bark. And cover the top with a tarp when it starts raining again.

I finally predator-proofed their outdoor run with wire. What is a good material to put over that? Bark, wood shavings or? I live in the rainy NW. (they also have a comfy hutch, connected to the run)

Makes sense. Bunny came from a hoarding case so I am pleased/surprised that she likes to be petted. I will crawl in the hutch with them to try some of the techniques offered here. Good that nobody can see me do that :craziness
