Belgians are the most amazing rabbits I have ever owned. And I have tried a number of different breeds since I started with rabbits in 1992. I have them in long cages in my bedroom and they are constantly 'dancing'. Watching them is better than an aquarium full of fish. I...

I also breed mini lops and I very rarely ever have trouble with them unless the moms dont build a nest. I keep my mini lops on wire so when they fail to use their nest box its a disaster. But that rarely happens. I had a litter of ten last summer than had one runt. I...

They are fairly rare. Belgians area 'fancy' breed. No purpose other than to look gorgeous. A number of years ago they tried to turn belgians into a meat breed and tried to add bulk to them. It hurt the belgians and they started to lose favor at shows. I can't imagine the breed...
Because when she fed them I checked them and only 4 had eaten. The others had nothing. I would have had 7 dead babies if not for the other doe. Reasons like that is why I try to always breed at least two rabbits at the same time. I have personally never had an issue giving babies to another doe...
So I did indeed get baby belgians on the 17th of Jan. Haven't had a computer for a month but I am back now. My younger doe surprised me with 11! My older doe had 1, but 14 hours later she had 4 but three were born dead and the other one died a few hours later. Not really sure....but the first...

I know breeders that will tattoo the right ear of a rabbit that they dont believe should be registered when they sell the rabbit for a pet. Keeps people from making up a pedigree and trying to have the rabbit registered. Usually just the word PET is tattooed into the...
Well...I had been told that its hard to get a belgian hare doe to stand for a buck due to their panicked nature. But BOTH my fairly newly acquired belgian hare does stood for my buck without much fuss. I am really really hoping that I have two litters of babies around Jan 17th. I just talked to...
I want to buy all my rabbits toys for Christmas. Where is the best/cheapest place to shop online for rabbit stuff? I am canadian so stores in Canada or ones with reasonable shipping to Canada is a bonus. I have had good luck with Horseloverz, but they dont have a cheap shipping deal on right now...
Your about to get kicked out for mentioning meat rabbits! Its a big no no here. Go to homesteadingtoday.com and go to the rabbit forum and repost this. You will get help there! I promise.
Things I recommending doing to get started are
Join ARBA. Get the books Raising Better Rabbits and Cavies and the Standards of Perfection book right away. Study the breeds you want to buy and make SURE you are getting exactly what you want. Dont let someone sell you something that isn't show...
I added a few more pics to the album. More of Eek! She was the one that was just peeking out of the carrier before. I finally got brave and took her out for a photo shoot. Plus a few more pics.

Yes I do want to show them. But probably only my buck of the ones I have now. I am hoping to breed both does ASAP. And New Hope is 1/8th Rhinelander. But honestly, her breeder and I both agree that a little rhinelander blood isn't going to hurt anything and probably help...
Well I was finally able to drive down and get my trio of Belgian Hares from the US (i posted about it on here back in Aug). One doe was born in March, one in May and my buck was born in May. All unrelated as far back on the pedigrees as you can see. They are so awesome and I wasn't disappointed...
