You can get bowls that attach to the cage cage bars. They are much harder to tip over. The bird section of a pet store usually has them, but the small animal and even dog area might have something. I would get the one the clamps on as opposed to the ones that just hook on. A 20oz one is good for water and a smaller one would be better for food. I have this one http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2754306 and it works quite well.

Ditto Kate to the bowels that attach to the cage. I have one I think I got from Petsmart in the small animal section.

My bunnies did this and also were diggers. What I did was I went to Wal-Mart and bought one of the big shallow dog feeders (the $3 metal ones) and a smaller bowl. I glued the smalled bowl in the center of the big bowl. This way it is VERY wide and almost impossible to tip, plus if they dig in the food it is caught by the bigger bowl.
