We are taking Giz to the vet tomorrow because his sneezing is not getting any better, he sneezes many times in a row and there seems to be a little bit of a whitish discharge. If the vet recommends antibiotics ( if its snuffles) what kinds are safe and which are unsafe? I forget if there is any links regarding this subject, I looked in the infirmary and couldn't find any:?

The Vet may try Baytril, that's usually their first choice because of past information about safety and its past performance against pasturella, but there is a fair amount of resistance being built up.

My Vet would probably give me ChlorPalm, seems to be the bunny drug of choice in Canada these days.

Another thing that's changed is the length of time the drugs are prescribed for, they have to stay on it for weeks if not months.

Let us know how it goes.

nasal culture will identify the culprit(bacteria)-then the appropriate meds will be administered,,may require facial radiographs(xray)--this is an infection requiring antibiotics,asap,-depending on the doctor(exotic specialist)- and culture as to how this will be handled,..i am hopeing for the best....sincerely james waller

The vet gave us Baytril, she says his lungs sound clear but because of the sneezing we dont want to take a chance. So its twice a day for two weeks and we will see if it clears up if not we have to take him back in. Just gave him his first dose when we came in, glad they gave us something regardless!!
