Everyone on here says "Pellets" but what really are they?
I am not sure becuase i used to get coloured food that looked intresting for Nibbles but when we got dippy and fluffballs cage we got a free starter pack and it had some little borwn food in it that looked like little bits of poop - are they pellets?
Today we went out and bought some of them are they pellets?
Help

Fankoo for moving it - I am rubbish at getting things in the right place :)

Could you be more specific please? I know you're in the UK, but if you tell us the brand and name on the bag that will help us a lot. Especially if you look up a website with the nutritional content for it so we can see that.

This is a picture of plain pellets:

Some brands are more brown or green. But either way you don't want to be feeding stuff with the extra treat bits in it like seeds and dried fruit. Those are treats and should be fed in very limited amounts, not the amount that is found in foods packaged with them. I know they look nice but they aren't healthy for rabbits at all and can even cause problems with diarrhea.

Well , it is a green bag which says

Burgess
SUPA RABBIT
Excel

at the bottom it says
with antin oxidant vitamins
supa premium rabbit food

I'm having trouble telling what's actually in it from the websites. Here's the most info I've found:
http://www.berriewoodwholesale.co.uk/cgi-bin/sitewise.pl?act=det&p=289

The first ingrediant is cereal grains, which would be like wheat and oats. This have too much carbs for rabbits and should only be fed as a treat.

I've been told this is a decent UK brand though. If it only has pellets with no other junk mixed in it should be ok, at least it's low in protein which is usually better for adult rabbits. Just feed it in measured amounts and make sure your rabbit eats a lot of grass hay too.

Baby bunnies yes pellets are the ones that look a bit like poops :pAnd Burgess is really good pellets that is what all of mine were on though what we realised is the Pets at home own brand is made by the same people who do Burgess (same serial number on bag :p) so we changed them over to that the nutritional values are pretty much the same and my buns absolutely love it the big plus its about £3.00 a bag cheaper (which means a lot to us seen as we have 18 + buns.

SO yes good food choice :D

Naturestee is you are interested here is the link to the Burgess website
