So during the holiday season tons of wicker and woven straw baskets etc are on sale at a bunch of stores. What is safe to give your rabbit to play with? The toys I buy specifically for my buns are peeled willow but I'm wondering about these wicker baskets and such. Are they safe to be nibbled on? How can you tell what's ok?

i let mine chew on any kind thats unfinished...all of my buns have houses made out of wicker baskets and they chew on them and make new exits for them ..they have no probs as long as theirs no coating on the wicker...some people only let their buns have peeled willow...i also buy the round laundry baskets made outta wicker and cut the bottom out and they run thu them and play..its their fav toy.

Yes, anything that is not stained is good to go.
Seagrass mats may also be available: My guys are pretty into those.

Another option is to source out some apple and pear tree branches.
