We moved the bun into a carpeted room today, and put down a new (but cheap) piece of carpet to cover the original carpet. The only problem is, it is new and it's kinda smelly... I know rabbits have sensitive respiratory systems; will this affect Nyx at all? Any experience with rabbits and new carpet?

Hmmm. No experience with it here, but if it smells strongly enough to bother you, it could cause them problems. I know some of the glues used in carpet can be hazardous. If it doesn't really bother you, no concerns. Just keep it as aerated in there as possible, perhaps open the window or door if possible, until the smell dissipates.

Good point. I've kept the window open and it seems to me that most of the smell has gone away... or, maybe I'm just used to it. =P But Nyx seems to be very happy with the extra room, so I think I'll leave it unless she acts bothered.
