I recently had 3 baby bunnies. They are all healthy except ive noticed one is not eating as much and is skinnier than the other two. The skinny one, Tiger, weighs 12oz, while the other two babies weigh 21.5 oz and 23 oz. He is not eating pellets or hay. Im not sure what i should do? Also Tiger is a girl, and one of the other babies is a girl and the other is a boy. Any ideas? Please help.

Is the momma bun still nursing these babies, and is the baby actually getting in there to nurse?

Do you know if the baby is pooping at all, and does it look normal? Any bloating?

first off check the teeth. at one month of age, teeth issues start to become very noticeable.

if they are perfect, then start checking everything else.
is it eating? if so what?
is it eliminating properly?

Update: we took Tiger to the vet. Teeth are healthy, we were given supplements to give the bunny to get the weight back up to a normal weight. We believe that the mother is starting to ween and Tiger has just not taken to eating the hay and the pellets as well as her two siblings has. We are going to weigh Tiger everyday and if she is still loosing weight we are going to take her back in. If all goes well and she gains weight we have a follow up appointment set up for next monday.

Update: Last night we slept with the rabbits' cage in our room. We woke up when the mother was nursing the three babies... Roo and Piglet, the ones who are growing fine, were nursing. However, Tigger was not nursing. Even when we set her right next to the mother she will not nurse. I'm guessing this is why she is so low in weight and size. Supplements are going ok but we know nothing compares to mothers milk. We are open to any suggestions on how to get Tigger to nurse.

You might try squeezing a little milk out and put it on Tigger's lips. For a kit to not nurse when the doe is right there nursing the others, there's something wrong. You can't make her nurse though. How old are the kits?

The kits are 1 month old. Tiger is gainig weight, but slowly. But improvement is improvemen

Thanks for all your help guys, but unfortunately last night tigger died. We noticed she could no longer use her front paws and thats when we knew something was wrong. Thanks again for all of your help.

Sorry for your loss. Unfortunately when they are so young they are also very delicate. Best wishes for the remaining two. Are they lionheads?

They were mixes. The mother is a Mini Rex (who the vet thinks might have lionhead in her) and the father is a Mini Lop.

So sorry for your loss and hope the other two babies do well. RIP little Tiger, you were here for so little time but you´ve left your mark. :bunnyangel2:

The vet did say it looked like they have some lionhead in them, but neither parent is a lion head.

We didn't think so at the time, it turns out they are. Tigger's sister Piglet is a lionhead. It's so cute!
