    base for nic cage

Hi- We have two bunnies (General and Maggie). They live together in a fairly large nic cage with carpet on top of plywood as the base. They are not completely litter box trained and some of the urine has seeped through the carpet/plywood. We need an alternative base, one in which urine...

    excessive chewing on furniture

Hi All, We're having an issue with Maggie (approx. 3 year old mini rex). She is chewing excessively on everything (baseboards, bed frame, night stand, everything). Both she and General (her bonded partner) chew on that stuff from time to time, but for the last week, she won't stop. Could...

    General and Maggie: Bonded!

Hi Everyone, My wife and I have posted about General and Maggie from time to time. We've had general for about 2.5 years, and we adopted Maggie about a year ago because we thought General was getting lonely. We had the hardest time getting them to bond. As sweet as he is, General was very...

    Cage Issues

Just to echo what others have said, it takes time. It took our rabbits at least a month before they felt comfortable going up on the second level. I think they are just careful, wary animals that need time in order to feel safe.

Anyone know about rabbits and Newfs/goldens?

Thanks for the suggestions! That is great to know. They look just like Newfs but they are a bit smaller because of the 1/4 golden. I will definitely be on the look out for a newf forum and any available books.

Anyone know about rabbits and Newfs/goldens?

Hi All, My husband and I are looking into getting a golden newfoundland puppy, 3/4 newf 1/4 golden and we were wondering if anyone has had any experience with Newfs and rabbits? Right now we have a bonded pair of Mini rexs. In the research we have done it said that newfs and goldens both...

help! woke up to a sick bun

Thanks for the great information. Maggie appears to be back to normal (she is sitting on my shoulder now). I just massaged her tummy and she didn't need any meds. I guess we are a little overly sensitive since General has his statis. Thanks again!!!!

help! woke up to a sick bun

hi all. this morning around 7 am my husband noticed that maggie, our mini rex, is not acting herself. She did not eat any breakfast and only wants to sprawl out. So this morning I have been keeping a close eye on her. She seemed a little cold so I put her in the bed with me, and she relaxed...

    Moving Cross Country

So my husband and I (and our two buns) could be moving from the East Coast to the West Coast in about 5 months. I was wondering what the best way for the Buns to travel is. We are going to drive our car out so we could take them but I have also seen companies that ship your pets via air travel...

    Grace and Louis - Bonding

We are bonding our mini rexes right now, and have had a tough time. We recently tried putting them in a bath tub with about half an inch of water filled. We then put both of them in there, and they snuggled and got along well. We did this several more times, and then started to gradually put...

    Bonding update ... advice welcome

Hi All, I just wanted to give an update about bonding our two mini rexes, General and Maggie. We have had them in cages next to each other for over a month. Without any incidents. So then we moved them into the bathroom for quick out of cage bonding sessions. They hae been going ok, but it...

    Heater distance

Correction; the distance is actually about a foot and a half. The temp is set to about 68 degrees (F). It's a standard floor heater that runs across the base of the walls.

    Heater distance

Hi All, Again with the questions. I am wondering now that winter is upon us and heaters are in full swing, how far should the bunny cages be from the wall heater? Right now they are about a foot away but just want to make sure that is far enough. Thanks!!

    Too Much Hay?

Thanks for all the feedback. We are switching to plain pellets this weekend. General is not going to be happy about this. He likes his fiesta, but I guess its like Lucky Charms so that is a no no

    Too Much Hay?

Jam - I saw a picture of your Bender, and my husband and I decided they are twins. I can't believe how much they look alike. Did you have to bond Bender and Lily? We are having a hard time with Maggie and General. As for the pellets, I think they are called Fiesta for rabbits. I am not sure if...

    Too Much Hay?

Hi all!! This forum is like a bible for rabbit raising (at least in our house). Anyway, I have another question. As some of you may remember we recently added a second bun to our house as a friend for General (which he does not want to be friendly to), but that is another topic!! Since the...
