Meet Ellie, our new bun and friend to Kimchi!

I see that it has been quite a while since I’ve posted here. Kimchi and Ellie continue to do well. We moved (still in SoCal) recently and now the rabbits have a larger free range area, central A/C when it gets hot, and a much larger back yard area for supervised fun. We have a tree in the...

Sorry for your loss Nancy. Peter sounds like he was a great rabbit and had a great life with you. ❤️

How much hay in Small Pet Select boxes?

I love, love love SmallPetSelect, and we bought hay from them for about a year or so. We had very good results with their stuff and it was a great way to find out what kind they preferred. They have great customer service and are pretty much one of my favorite companions! We buy their pellet...

How often do you clean your rabbit's cage and litter?

We change ours usually twice a week (two rabbits) but sometimes will change it one extra time per week (as in, a day "early") if we find that it needs it. We use wood pellet litter and add hay (like Blue Eyes mentioned above) when the poops become plentiful. I'd say it depends on your...

    Getting another rabbit, any advice?

This is brilliant! This thread should be pinned or stickied or whatever it's called here on RO. This is exactly how it should be. The rabbit rescue we found Ellie at held "bunny speed dating" events almost every Saturday, where they bring in a mix of foster and shelter rabbits, and you bring...

    toys

Nancy, question for you - I want to make a multi-level box castle/house, but I am at a loss as to how to make "stairs" or whatever between the levels. It sounds like you solved this with a simple hole to allow them to go up/down through. Is that right?

    toys

I follow several rabbit-related Twitter accounts, but I really love Best4Bunny. They recently shared this link, which has some suggestions for do-it-yourself toys that you can make. Hopefully these can also serve as inspiration for other variations or new toys that you invent yourself...

Difficult Bonding , am I making progress?

I don't have much bonding experience - only once - but from what I have read, I would be very patient and just try to ease them into it. Keep an eye on them and keep it progressing slowly. Good luck!

    3 rabbits to good home

Your rabbits are beautiful.! I am glad to hear in your other thread that the kits were born healthy. As an outside observer, I obviously recommend that you spay and neuter all of your rabbits. If you have to get rid of some - including one that you are unsure whether she is pregnant or not -...

    Lost our baby Lola......miss u

I am sorry to hear that your bun passed. I am new to rabbits so I am not a great resource for you here, but I would personally just try to spend extra time with your surviving bun, to show him that you are here for him and that he is loved. Good luck!

    Licky bun!

You are correct, the licking signifies your rabbit grooming you - high praise indeed! The circling is hormonal "I really like you" behavior, ours did this as well before he was neutered. He still does it once in a while but rarely. The "buzzing" is likely the satisfied teeth grinding that...

Pregnant rabbit possibly in labor HELP

Hello Cookiemonster - others with more experience will hopefully chime in soon. I recommend taking your rabbit to a qualified vet as soon as you are able to. Good luck!

My rabbit drinks from the side of his bowl!

Haha - yes, both of our rabbits do the same thing. Not always, but often times, they will lap up the water from the inside edge of the bowl, where the surface of the water meets the inside edge of the bowl. Some days, they drink from the middle, sometimes from the side. :)

Neutering, timothy hay allergies, and other questions from a new rabbit owner

Hello Rumi! We also live in the Los Angeles area, and if Torrance is not too far away, I would like to recommend Dr. Kaufmann of Harbor Animal Hospital in Torrance, California. You can read a bit about our experiences here: http://www.rabbitsonline.net/showthread.php?t=86182 We had Kimchi...

Should I start a rabbit website?

Blue Eyes, I've been meaning to thank you - speaking of your website - for the great suggestion you have over there regarding wood pellets for litter. We were using Yesterday's News, which is great and we love it, but it is expensive compared to wood pellets. The only thing with the wood...

Meet Ellie, our new bun and friend to Kimchi!

Haha, not pictured with the scarf picture, but just out of the frame are my wife's hands, who had just released him and the scarf so I could snap a quick picture with my phone. Believe me, he didn't "wear" the scarf for very long! We also had a small bow perched on Ellie's head, but she is...
