    Picking up bunny

You know, I think my being nervous or at least hesitant could be the issue. When I first got her, I picked her up perfectly fine. Somewhere along the line I think I might have gotten nervous (I can't remember if she jumped out of my arms or struggled or what), and she probably picks up on...

    Picking up bunny

So here I am, trying to figure out how to pick up my bunny because she struggles and even runs away from me when I pet her...then today, my daughter tells me that the bunny lets her pick her up. She showed me how she just leans down, supports her bottom and chest, and picks her up. No...

Besides a lucky little beast, what am I?

Are you kidding me?!?! The store was going to feed this cute little bun to a snake...when they could have been using frozen rats? That is horrible! I'm so glad you saved this guy!! He is sooooo cute. Wish I could take him in, but I think my hubby would have a cow. What state do you live in?

    Picking up bunny

Well, here I am again. My bunny is spayed (almost 2 months now), and she's really mellowed out. Doesn't even want out of her hutch sometimes. I'm still working on picking her up, but she's still struggling so much. I know not to pick her up by the scruff, but that's how she was raised by her...

Need creative ideas for hay holder

I think I'll probably just move the hay to the part of the hutch that has the wooden floor or above the litter box (also wooden floor). Thanks!

Need creative ideas for hay holder

Since I adopted my bun in December, I've been using a hay manger. However, after a very short period of time (days), I notice that there is a large pile of hay under her cage (cage is 5" off ground & half is wire bottom). I feel like it's such a waste for all that hay. Do any of you have...

    Bunny unfriendly post-spay :-(

Hi All! Yes, she's been on pain meds and she's healing just fine. I have been giving her treats, but she's even a bit resistant to them! However, I think I may have found a possible explanation for her behavior...after the spay, we kept her in the house in an x-pen. Bringing her in the house...

    California

San Jose, CA! Found an awesome vet tech nearby who does house/bunny/dog/pet sitting. She charges a bit much, but at least I'm at ease that my animals are well taken care of when I'm away.

    I escaped!!

Hee, hee. While my mommy and daddy were at work and my human brother and sister were at school, I made a run for it! I was spayed last Thursday, and since then I've been in an x-pen in the house, right in the middle of all the action. Well, everyone left, and I got bored, so I hopped on top...

    Bunny unfriendly post-spay :-(

OK, so I know it's only been 5 days since her spay, but Chanelle wants me nowhere near her. I adopted her in December, and it took me 2 months for her to not be afraid of me. She was doing great prior to her spay, but now she's hesitant to come to me even for apple slices! Do you think she's...

    Checking incision after spay

I like the idea of enticement with a treat. So far, she's been okay with how I'm doing it. Her space is not too big, I don't think. She's in our house, in a pen about 5 feet diameter. She's got her carrier, litter box, food, water, toys, etc. She's not super hopping around or anything...and...

    Checking incision after spay

OK, so it took two of us, but I got her and lifted her slightly while her hind legs stayed on the ground. My husband looked at her belly with a flashlight. The incision looks nice and dry and just fine. Whew!

    Checking incision after spay

I've been waiting and watching for her to "prairie dog" because she often does this in her pen, but so far, she hasn't. I'm sure she's still in pain to stretch like that. OK, I'll try to pick her up. I'm just worried she'll twist and squirm and open her incision.

    Checking incision after spay

Hi! My bunny, Chanelle, was spayed yesterday. She's doing well- eating, pooping, peeing, moving around a bit. I'm supposed to check her incision daily but I don't know how to get a hold of her to check without hurting her. She hates being picked up and even putting my hands on both sides of...

Need to have my rabbit spayed and was wondering what other people have paid?

I had mine spayed today. Since it was Neuter/Spay month, my local Humane Society offered a list of vets that were doing low-cost spay/neuter during February. I paid $80 out the door. Much better than my local vet's estimate at $325.

Help: to move a bunny without picking her up

I might try the towel idea. I don't want to chase her with it, so I'll have to be careful how I approach her. As for bringing her right to my body, yes. She'll even try and twist out of my hold, even after she's calmed down for a few seconds. I'm thinking I might need to let her go into her...

How to move a fearful bunny?

Hi Everyone! About a month ago, I adopted a bunny from a family who couldn't take care of her anymore. Her name is Chanelle, and she's a Holland Lop. I raised rabbits in my teen years, but they were not tame at all and purely outdoors. With Chanelle, I have her in a 2-story hutch under our back...
