Best online store for hay ?

Personally, I buy timothy and orchard from the local feed store, but here are a list of online retailers you can buy hay in bulk from: http://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Hay#Online_in_Bulk

    Mixed Breed Guessing Time!

Thanks for the pictures! Yeah, I don't think my black bun is quite that glossy. :P But it's as you say, maybe the mix part dulls the coat. :)

    Which food brand is best?

Purely looking at the two listed, I would go with Burgess Excel due to the higher fiber and lower protein. Dana Krempels, a renowned rabbit researcher, recommends the following: * at least 22% crude fiber * no more than approximately 14% protein * about 1% fat * about 1.0% calcium...

I think this is good news!!!

Seconding fuzz16. You should keep them separate until both are fixed. Bonds will easily break when one rabbit reach sexual maturity. Additionally, your male can also impregnate the female if they aren't fixed and kept together. Then you'll have to deal with a litter on your hands. Females...

Tree Branches and outdoor grasses...good for bunnies?

I compiled them from other lists I found online. Sources should be listed on the bottom. I basically went through all of them and just added them into one ginormous list. If you have experience they're safe, I'll take them off. :P Thanks for the info!

    Spay or Neuter?

FallenRabbit wrote: I adopted both of mine from the SD county shelter and could take them home the same day once my landlord checked out over the phone and said I could own rabbits. Going through the SD HRS might take longer cause I've heard that they actually go to where you live and...

    New Owner Questions

$400 imo is quite expensive for a rabbit spay. Typically, low cost is from $40-$200, but some vets will go $300+ if you don't have that many choices. Earliest that a rabbit is recommended to be spayed is 4-6months. IMO, the earlier the better because once their hormones kick in, you can end up...

Tell the cottage grove riding club that rabbit cruelty will not be tolerated!

MiniLopHop wrote: But the thing is, even as livestock, you should have no interest in damaging your goods before they're sold or used. Nobody wants an injured rabbit if it can be helped. I think in this instance, they know the rabbits aren't going to be their problem anymore after the event...

    Spay or Neuter?

MiniLopHop wrote: Sorry, but the image of a run by spray by a bun is quite the funny image. :P I've decided I'm probably going to only get adult fixed pets from local shelters or rescues whether it be cat, dog, or rabbit since I don't want to deal with spaying/neutering them myself and...

Tree Branches and outdoor grasses...good for bunnies?

For the record, I've compiled a list of known toxic plants here. http://wabbitwiki.com/wiki/Toxic_Plants

    hay

Rabbits don't actually need bedding, just a soft surface that isn't wire or their litter box (if you use one) to lie on and nap. You can use hay or straw if you want, both are safe, but not really needed.

    Spay or Neuter?

Erren wrote: I remember doing some research on the matter for a question on another forum. Short answer is no, it's not that common. And even then, once they're neutered, it should be fine. Just make sure you neuter him before ~6yrs of age or he might be too old to be neutered. Here's a...

I found this article with a quick search: http://www.kmtr.com/news/local/story/Cottage-Grove-Rodeo-responds-to-criticism-of/kkJhe16iMUmVFOQOFURQaw.cspx It's appalling to hear their backwards logic.

    Mixed Breed Guessing Time!

Thanks, wendymac! @Samara: What's the difference between Satin and Havana rabbits? I did some cursory reading on the two breeds and Havanas have "satin" coats? Thanks for the confirmation on the Hotot and the guess for my black bunny. :)

    Mixed Breed Guessing Time!

hmmm.. reading up on the standards of Havanas and looking at the pictures, it sort of sounds like her. She's definitely rounder and stockier than my other bunny. I nicknamed her as my hefty bunny because it seems like so much effort for her to binky, lol. Her fur is very plush and dense and...

    Mixed Breed Guessing Time!

Hi all! I was curious if any of you kind folks would be able to take a guess at what breed mixes my two adopted buns could possibly be. If you'd like more information about them, let me know! Onto the pictures! Bun 1 He is ~1yr old from the shelter, male, found as a stray, ~4.6lbs...

Help! How to groom a fuzzy lop?

The scent glands are under the tail. http://brighteyessanctuary.org/educ/rabbit-info-scent-glands.html After I first adopted my first bun, I slowly handpulled out his mats using my fingers when I fed him his vegetables every night. Slow but steadily all of them came out. He does not like...
