strange shape poops...

so I just looked in my buns cage and he just pooped a stange shapped poop. kind of long shinny bunch of very small round poops all together. it reminded me of a bunch of grapes. the rest are fine color, shape and everything. his diet has been competely normal, drinking water fine. he has western timothy hay just had a piece of romaine lettus had a small handfull of kaytee pellets this morning around 6:30. yeah. he has been chewing on his plastic litter box a lot lately. ive been desperatly trying to get him to stop. should i take him to the vet? hes a 1 year old netherland dwarf.

Those are "night feces" - I forget the other term for them.

He's fine. Normally rabbits will eat those (it has vitamins inside that are good for them) -but sometimes they'll have excess and not eat them. If he's had a lot of treats that could lead to excess ones also.

no i know what thoes are. this was a bunch of very tiny poops all put together into one big poop. like i said, a bunch of grapes came to mind as to what this looked like. he eats his poops all the time and almost never leaves them in his litter box. so thats why i thought this was weird.

What you are describing sounds like cecotropes or "cecal" poops. Unlike regular poop, cecotropes are actually not feces at all, but nutrient packed goodies bunnies usually eat when you are not looking, like Peg mentioned.

Cecotropes. It could have been that you surprised him when he was about to eat it and he forgot about what he was doing and thus didn't eat it. Other causes include a diet too high in protein or a stressful situation, but since it was just the one time, you probably startled him.
