Hi everyone, I'm a new bunny owner and have had my little guy for 2 1/2 months. Last night when I put him in the cage for the night I made the mistake of setting the hay bag against his cage and he managed to chew a decent sized hole in the plastic bag. Since then he has eaten and pooped and acted fairly normal. I have him out playing right now and he has passed cecetropes 2 times now in under 15 minutes. It's not completely abnormal for him to not eat them right away since he usually goes back to them but is it normal for him to pass them twice in such a short amount of time? And is this a good sign of digestion considering the plastic he consumed last night? These may be dumb questions but I'm still learning and getting this whole "bunny mom" thing down. Thank you in advance for your advice.

Usually when they chew through something they don't necessarily consume it. If he's acting normally today, and pooping and eating is all normal, I would probably just continue to keep a close eye on everything for the next few days to make sure nothing changes. Though if in doubt, it's always better to consult with your vet.

If eating, drinking, and pooping changes abnormally, and/or he starts acting oddly, then I would get him to a good rabbit vet right away.

Mine chew TONS of coroplast from their cage flooring - as JBun said, they don't typically swallow inedible stuff (I find bits of it everywhere)! The thin plastic of a hay bag, even if ingested, will most likely pass through your bunny's digestive system without issue. As long as eating/drinking/pooping habits are all normal and he's his normally active self, I wouldn't worry. Mine seem to pass their cecals in a short time frame and then not pass any for a while (judging by when I see them bending over to eat them)... if he's active/playing and having fun (especially if he's still fairly young), it wouldn't be considered unusual for him to ADD and forget to eat them. Also, if he's had extra pellets recently, that can cause extra cecals that go uneaten.
