We had a surprise litter Sunday and I just moved nest into a nestbox in her cage but momma isnt happy and has tried to dump it. I have moved nest back into her cage and now she has destroyed it. I am in a panic mode.

Are the babies in a nest or sitting on the cage floor? Has she pulled fur for them? Has she been feeding her kits (you can tell they've been fed if they have fat little bellies), or is she completely ignoring them?

You may have to make a nest for the kits if she hasn't made one. The babies will also need her fur to keep warm, so if she hasn't pulled any, try gently pulling some off of her belly. This also stimulates milk production. If they haven't been fed, you will have to try holding her so that the kits can drink. Another alternative is hand raising, but it's hard and doesn't have a very good success rate :(

She has been great with the babies with the nest she made in her cage. I had one baby wander out of it yesterday but I was home to find it seeing how it was making noises and move it back to nest. Today I made a nest box and moved her nest and babies into it but she kept trying to dump it over and over again so I just moved her nest and babies back into the cage where she had it. She was none too thrilled and kept trying to destroy the nest and get to all the babies. I am not sure if she was going to do anything with them or what. My anxiety was through the roof with that situation. I took momma out of the cage, held her, talked to her, pet her, let her run around our bedroom all while I tried to get her nest to how she had it. When I put her back in she checked it, moved a little of the nest but thankfully nothing like she did earlier. Then went to eating her hay and jumping on her shelf to lay on it. I am hoping everything will turn out fine and that she won't do any harm to the babies overnight. Thankfully where her cage is in the living room I can see it from my side of the bed which I watch her every night go to her nest to feed them so I will be able to keep an eye on her tonight. Me having anxiety issues and this going on had me a bit freaked out. When I texted my husband telling him what was going on he asked me if the babies were ok which is nice seeing how at first he wasn't too thrilled with the surprise litter lol. He has even warmed up to them.
