I have a quandary:

We are going on vacation and my sister has volunteered to take my rabbit into her home for the week, but she has a dog and a cat.

My rabbit, Trixie, will be safe and kept in a spare bedroom away from the others pets. And my sister is a long-time animal lover and very responsible.

My question is this: Would Trixie be completely stressed out for the whole week because of the smells and sounds of the other animals, or would she get used to it and be fine. I don't want to give her a nervous breakdown!

Thanks!

I agree all rabbit are different. I have two rabbits and one gets stressed easily and the other couldn't care less about anything. I have one large golden retriever and three cats. Both my rabbits even the rabbit Stitch who gets stresses easily loves my dog and both of then will chase the cats around the house. You have to decide what u think if she is a chill rabbit then she probably won't get stressed but if she is a very skittish then u might want to introduce to ur aunts pets and that way u will b there to comfort her. Hope this helped :)

If your hippity hop has never met a cat or dog it probably wouldnt hurt to visit for an hour a two and then leave so it's not a complete and total shock to be dropped off for the week.

We were petsitting for a friend's puppy and my buns were fine, as long as they couldn't see the pup. Felix got one look and bolted as far as possible (poor baby!), but recovered quickly and after I put a blanket covering the xpen completely (so they couldn't see pup) there was no problem.

Felix also once stayed overnight at my friend's house. The room would have smelled like her cat and dog to him, but he was absolutely fine.

Our Golden Charlotte loves our rabbit Stewie, and Stewie loves Charlotte, but they are both laid back critters. I agree, it depends on how mellow the bunny is.

Thanks for the responses. Trixie is not very laid back - fairly nervous, but she will actually never see the other pets, so I'm thinking she'll be okay.

It's my best option at this point.
