Looking for advice on a very shy Lionhead

I empathize with what you are going through ! We are on our FIFTH bunn(ies) over a thirty year period. Last year we chose Benjamin and Bonnie (siblings/mini-lops) at the Michigan State Fair. Got them as appropriately young as you can. This is thee first time we have not had loving...

Think I know answer, but when our male rabbit sort of aggressively scratches me...

our six month (fixed) old male mini-lop (Benjamin Bunny), about twice a week, will come up to me pants leg and aggressively scratch my pants leg with his front paws. No obvious reason, except it feels as if I am "in his way."??? I do not get the feeling that he dislikes me, but as this is...

    Baby bunnies and litter training

It is impossible to completely stop bunnies from chewing an occasional home item, unless there is very tight supervision. One thing that really helps is buying or cutting the chew sticks. I think my wife buys small apple sticks- they spend hours meticulously nibbling the bark off of the sticks...

My two (bro/sis) rabbits, 5 mos. old, have an occasional sneeze, but look/act fine

Thanks for the tip! I will check. Your bunny icon looks a LOT like our Benjamin and Bonnie.

My two (bro/sis) rabbits, 5 mos. old, have an occasional sneeze, but look/act fine

I am a bit concerned. These are our 5/6 rabbits over a period of thirty + years. NONE of our rabbits (until now) have ever had extended sneezing. These two (Benjamin Bunny & Bonnie) have had for several days, an occasional sneeze (oh, about 5-6x a day) fairly strong. They both eat "like...

Conflicting info on how long spaid male is still "risky" after procedure

Blue eyes, note how similar our ( full moustached ) female, Bonnie, looks like your mini-lop (black&white) ! Interesting. Thank you again, watermelon and blue eyes for your advice. We will take this info into account and extend our time to 1.5 months. We prefer to not neuter the girl until...

Conflicting info on how long spaid male is still "risky" after procedure

Our male, Benjamin, is almost five months old now. He was spaid (sp?) right at four months, so it has been three + weeks since his procedure. We were told by our vet to keep him separated from his sister for three weeks after the procedure. Of course I have read 3 weeks, 4 weeks, and even TWO...

Our male lop scheduled for neutering but I am skeptical-they do not offer pain meds !

Wow ! Thanks folks for the advice on Benjamin. Our not-real familiar with rabbits vet said that he is "viable" for THREE weeks only, and then we had planned on him fellowshipping with his sister, Bonnie. They sooo enjoy one another's company. I am just a bit skeptical that he could have...

Our male lop scheduled for neutering but I am skeptical-they do not offer pain meds !

This is helpful because we were told (by our not so familiar with rabbits vet here) that he is "a risk" for THREE weeks only. I suppose I am just a tad skeptical that he would have viable sperm beyond 6 weeks! At least we may be free of potential "spraying" after a month? We want him out...

Our male lop scheduled for neutering but I am skeptical-they do not offer pain meds !

Proud of our boy, Benjamin. He was eating &drinking 2 hours after he came home from surgery. Prescribed Metacam 1x daily for 4 days. A little on the quiet side but eating and drinking fine. The vet used some kind of surgical tape INSTEAD of stitches. She said her experience showed her...

Our male lop scheduled for neutering but I am skeptical-they do not offer pain meds !

This is such a GREAT site. I am sooo thankful to Rabbits Online ! Doing a little research on here and indications are that perhaps "Buprenex" may be thee best choice for our 4 month old, approx. 4 lb. bunny (Benjamin). And that perhaps "Tramadol" may be a close second best. Sound right...

Our male lop scheduled for neutering but I am skeptical-they do not offer pain meds !

We have scheduled our 4 month old MALE mini-lop for NEUTERING. This clinic vet cares for rabbits but they are certainly not specialists or "exotic" pet-vets. I asked about post-surgery pain meds and was told that they do NOT do pain meds unless the owner specifically asks. Made me start to...

Our baby bunny ate 2 Jade plant leaves (poisonous)

Thanks for your responses ! Bonnie is just fine. It is weird how there are so many lists of things that are bad for cats, dogs and HORSES...yet crickets (chirping sound in background)...little to nothing on rabbits, OR conflicting list (ok on one list, BAD on another), Well, Bonnie ate about...

Our baby bunny ate 2 Jade plant leaves (poisonous)

Our bunny just ate 2 leaves of our Jade plant. The ASPCA Poison Control Center lists Jade plant leaves as one of the most poisonous to dogs and cats. I cannot find anything on rabbits being sensitive to Jade plants. Do you folks know a free site that advises on poisonous plants for rabbits...
