If you have Facebook join “Holland Lop Show Central” or “Holland Lop Breeders” or “FBI Holland Lop Show Room” there is a lot of very knowledgeable breeders in those groups that could probably help you.
Buy some fruit flavoured tums. Crush one up and mix with water to make a paste. Syringe it to her (mostly just let her lick the syringe and DON’T shoot it down her throat) on day 31 when the second litter is coming. This will help with the calcium she’ll be burning (just give her as much of that...
The netherland is a black otter and the lop looks like a black with the vienna gene. It’s hard to tell the lops colour though without seeing her whole body.
Some of the kits have the vienna gene as well (the white triangle on the head)
It’s hard to know their colours just yet as they are young...
Yes I definitely agree that there is a more suitable animal as a class pet (although the summer heat makes having anything harder). Rabbits are not an easy pet to take care of. They eat a lot, drink a lot and are generally not a pet I would ever leave unattended for more than a day.
Aww there both really cute, good luck with bonding them. The lionheads colour is called tri colour (cause of the 3 colours in one) and the lop is a charlie broken black (charlie means less than 10% colour and broken means colours when they’re mixed with white) just if you were wondering :)
I find that males tend to be nicer (and less territorial) than females, but obviously there’s always exceptions and personalities differ from rabbit to rabbit.
This baby definitely looks like a tort otter so you can’t show him, but the other kits won’t be disqualified. He’s a cutie but unfortunately only a pet. With that breeding pair an unshowable colour is always a possibility. I’d recommend breeding the tort to another tort (or self colours like...
Just like what Hermelin said, there’s something called false dwarf and true dwarf. True dwarfs are the ones that do best in show (not over the weight limit, compact body type) and falses are either pets or they can be matched with a true in breeding to make a half and half litter of trues and...
I’m actually a holland lop breeder and I love going to shows! I’d recommend your family go to a show a least once to see what it’s all about. There is an unimaginable amount of buns and unlike a random fair people at ARBA shows know what they’re talking about, lol. As for the dad rabbit’s...
Sometimes female buns can be pretty aggressive when you first get them. My first bunny was a girl and she bit for the first year we had her. The play pen will fix your chewing problem. As for her nails try to find someone who has previously owned bunnies, a vet or someone advertising nail...
Ya the author probably just wanted to make it more colourful. I saw an episode on a kids show (Jessie) and they had a bunny who had babies and there was like 5 different breeds of young rabbits.
