Last night we got a message from someone who runs a rescue that a rabbit had been dumped on her driveway in a box!! As she knows we were searching for another rabbit after losing one of ours suddenly a few weeks ago she tough to message me. She had no room at all so as we had everything needed for two rabbits anyway we took her home. She's got a vet appointment tomorrow for vaccinations and for the vet to have a feel for a spaying scar. As she is not microchipped we're not holding out much hope though... Maybe it's just our vets but they're constantly checking ours is chipped!
We've brought her home and she's absolutely gorgeous inside and out. We really hope to successfully bond her to our neutered and vaccinated male as he has been very down since losing his friend. Harvey has been neutered for a year now. The question we have is, is that is it worth taking the risk of introducing them before getting her spayed? As she is technically owned by the rescue we have a free spaying voucher and free insurance so it's not like money is a factor at all. It's just a case of is it actually going to potentially be detrimental to their relationship if we mix them before? We do feel a bit like while we wish we could keep two seperate rabbits, as we know Harvey sort of needs a friend the right thing to do would be to rehome her through the rescue if it didn't work out and they just weren't the right match. And just for her own good the sooner she was able to go to said new home to better. We would allow the maximum time for recovery after spaying so it makes it into a very long process... Not that that is necessarily a problem, but we're trying to weigh up the right thing to do.
She is a very submissive rabbit, as soon as you go to stroke her she lays down with her head on the floor. She loves a fuss but is quite gentle and calm. Just thought it was worth an ask really. This poor thing has had such a rough time that we just desperately want to be able to give her a loving home!
Thankyou :hug2:
Also any name suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
Harvey is an english spot x so very different looking bunnies so it would be quite nice to have a very different name. But we're stumped!
