How much does it generally cost to spay arabbit? Mine is very territorial and I think she should be spayed sinceI read that rabbits are healthier when they are spayed. What are therisks? I don't plan on mating her, so I thought it would be a goodidea. Any advice?

I knew a vet that would do it for 280 dollars, and a vet that did it for 50. (I went cheaper, and they were wonderful!)

There is a risk when getting any surgery done for a rabbit, as with thecase for Mambo and Stephie... but an unspayed female may becomeaggressive, territorial, aloof, more at risk for certain cancers.. thelist goes on. The biggest reason I got mine fixed was just temperment,it definatly helps!

I'd say yes to spay. :)

As my vet said, there's always a risk when youuse anestesia. Thats why you want to find a rabbit savvy vetthat knows about doing this with them as its alot different than it isfor dogs/cats. I have had 1 male neutered and the other oneunderwent surgery today due to an infection. He did reallywell under the anestesia...we were going to neuter today, but the othersurgery ended up being so major that we decided to hold off so ifthere's complications we'll know what its from and not be guessing!

Spaying a female also greatly cuts down on the chances of uterin cancer as the female ages.

oh, thank goodness. I'm glad to know that she won't be so cranky after she gets spayed. Thank you!

Well, she might be cranky for a couple of weeks after thespay. Star wasn't herself for about two weeks ormore. Now she isn't as shy and much, MUCH moretolerant. I sayyes to spaying! She willlive a longer, healthier and happier life!

It actually completely eliminates the chances of uterine cancer because the uterus and other reproductive organs are removed.

The chances of uterine tumors are very high in does. Althoughthese are not cancerous in all cases, benign tumors can also causehealth problems.

Unfortunately, there is always a risk with surgery or even with giving medications and vaccines.

Mocha's spay cost $180. It would have been $120,but I payed extra for laser surgery. I've found that it's moreexpensive from vets that advertise themselves as exotic specialists. Ihad quotes as low as $65, but they were from places that cautiouslysaid they worked with rabbits a little, sometimes. They didn't give memuch confidence.

I found a vet where I live that spayed/neuteredall the rabbits for one of the rescue places here in Indiana and heonly charged $50 for Butterscotch's neuter. Maybe if you finda vet that does a lot of work with rabbits in that respect... he/shewill be cheaper because they really care about the rabbits and wantwhat's best for them so the keep their costs lower to promotespaying/neutering. He was an excellent vet by they way... socheap doesn't always mean bad... just do the research :D
