I recently started seriously looking into the ins and outs of bunnies and realized I have some sort of sick obsession lol. Ever since I laid eyes on a Holland lop, I knew they were the bunnies for me. I started absently googling questions I had about bunnies while I road in the car or took my break at work. Through all the literature I read, I could not only see myself having a healthy relationship with a little lop, but also enjoying the long and patience testing road you must take to have a good relatonship. I began searching for Holland lop breeders with kits available all over the internet. Every pet I've ever had was a rescue animal (either rescued by me personally or rescued from the pound), and many had health problems that sometimes seemed an uphill battle. For once, I wanted to have a baby that is starting off healthy, with papers and all that stuff. Well, I lucked out and found a little man born on 4/19 about 20 mins from where I live. I told myself that unless he was perfect, I'd resist and say no thank you. I'm not the kind of person who gives a pet away because I'm not particularly fond of their behavior. If I make them family, they stay that way until they pass, so I really needed a good personality. I got REALLY lucky when I held the little black fluff ball, and he was sweet as candy. I've had him since 6/29 and he could not be a better bunny. I was prepared to take things slow, but he is already so comfy. He eats out of my hand, he's doing good on the potty training, he gives me kisses, he loves it when I pet him, he let's me hold him and he has never bitten. I feel like I some how cheated at being a bunny mommy by being blessed with such a PERFECT little guy. We just hit it off so well! Like I said, I got lucky in this situation and can't say I mind.

If anyone has any info that has to do with Holland lops specifically, feel free to share!

In case you were wondering, I did pick out a name. I have a black chow/shepard mix(who is always always supervised with bunny) named Luke, and decided that bunny should be Anakin, or Darth Vader. And, yes, for all you Star Wars fans I have, in fact, held Anakin up to Luke and said "Luke, I am your father".

Hi, So glad you hit "pay dirt" with your first bunny. And please don't forget, your bunny also hit "pay dirt" with having you as a parent.

Some bunnies just cooperate and it's amazing. Have a few myself that I thought, "Wow that was easy". But just to let you know, don't let your guard down. They will surprise you. It's usually nothing big but just a little quirk or attitude. Which can be leveled out by TLC. And it's normal. It's all part of a bunny growing up. Teen years with attitude. It passes.

Congratulations! Love the name! Look forward to seeing pics and hearing more about your experience.

Plus, you'll surely have some hormonal problems that might start at about 3 months, or you could be lucky with that as well.

Welcome to the forum, Kay.

Awww how cute and he sounds just sweet. I can relate to your story well because everything clicked like that with Agnes too. She has completely stolen my heart and i have surprised myself how much I have fallen for her.

Welcome to the forum. Would love to see pics! :)

Thanks everyone! I currently only have internet on my phone and I'm having trouble posting pics. I actually only have a few pics in the first place because everytime we play, I legitimately can not stop staring. He makes my heart melt!:) I'll try to get some up from a friends computer so you all can see for yourself how precious he is. I'm really hoping that he doesn't go through too much of a personality change when he starts to get all of his hormones going, but even if he does I'll make it work. I do plan on getting him fixed when he's bigger, but I'm still not sure about which vet I'd go to. I've heard/read too many horror stories to trust someone I found in the phonebook. Do you think it would be a good idea to start a post on here asking for reliable vets in Illinois? I feel like people as crazy about there bunnnies as me are the only people I can trust with something so big. And what says you're crazy about bunnies like joining and using an online rabbit forum lol.

You can check your area on here by region to see if anyone has any listed but yes, start a thread.

Also, this is how I found my rabbit savvy vet:

http://www.rabbit.org/vets/index.html

I think on that same website there is a list of questions to ask any potential vet.

Thanks for the website! And Melissa, your baby looks kind of like mine! I know I've already said tis but he REALLLY makes my heart melt!

Welcome to the forum! :)

Truely adorable bunny-I'm a huge Holland fan. Your bunny reminds me of my old holland doe Charlie.
