At certain times of the year, Mimi will do this strange thing where she will latch on to anybody's arm and attempt to hump it very... improperly. Either it's purely a dominance thing or I have a very eccentric bun on my hands.

Sometimes during a spay a small tissue of ovary is left behind. When this happens animals can go on acting like they are unaltered. The only way to find out is to go in and see if there is left tissue. We had a cat come into the clinic. It was acting in full blown heat but she was spayed. Doc opened her up and found a small piece of ovarian tissue (smaller than the size of a pea) removed it and the cat never acted like that again. It's crazy how small a piece of tissue can create such madness. But it could also just be behavioral. Some does just like to exert their dominance more than others. Time of spay could be an indicator of whether its a learned behavior or personality.
