I have a holland lop his name is cheeze it! He is about 41/2 months old. I'm very curios about a bigger cage for him! Any suggestions! And the cage is 20 in by 56 in. It may be smaller but I didn't know the exact measurements! It looks about the size of my mirror! So I looked at those measurements. He has been having very heavy breathing! I think its because he does not get enough exercise!

Does Cheeze-it get time outside of his cage to exercise?

A bigger cage is a good idea. Look into wire dog crates (XL or giant size), x-pens or NIC cages. These all tend to be cheaper than a store bought cage and are bigger.

Does he breathe heavily on a regular basis or is it just when he is out running around? If it is all the time, he could have an underlying condition that needs to be treated by a vet. If it is just when he is running around, then he should be ok.

A bigger cage is always a good idea! :) you're rabbit will be very happy

Bigger the better ;) The RSPCA recommended size is 6ft by 4ft, the bun should have enough space to stand upright and do at least three hops.
But if the cage is just used at night or when you're out for a short while then a little smaller will do.

Heavy breathing could be a sign of respiratory problems not too small of a cage, I would take him to a rabbit specialist vet for a check up:) Regarding cage size I keep my Holland lops in a standard 24" x 24" x 18" cage they are all in great condition and health so it wouldn't be the cage thats the problem;) A bigger cage would be fun for your bun. However in what I have read it is usually better to have a smaller enclosure and to let them out daily for exercise as too much time in a large cage can actually make them lazy, this is due to everything no longer being excited so that should be something you keep in mind. Good luck with your bun! ~ Sarah:)
