My bunnies all get several hours a day to free roam our living room and staircase; however, they are in their cages/enclosures during the night and when we are away.
Sugar has a cage to himself as Cuddles is still nursing their babies. (Now that Momma and babies are in the condo, Sugar has the bigger blue cage that you will see in later pictures)
Cuddles and her newborn babies share a cage
As the babies start to move about, we had to give them a bigger "nest", plus we got rid of the shavings and went to carefresh bedding for the babies and yesterday's news for the litter box.
Once their eyes opened and they learned to jump out of their nest, we needed somewhere for momma (Cuddles) to be able to get away from them, so we built our first "condo".
Condo I in progress...
and completed...
Of course, the babies continued to grow and soon learned how to jump to the second level where momma was (she never took to the 3rd level). With six of them vying for space up there, the food and hay dishes were continously being knocked down. So it was time to rebuild the condo to accomodate their new size and abilities.
This is Condo II (3 grids long, wide and tall, so about 36" each side)
a blue trap on the floor makes cleaning up as easy as sweeping it out, which I have to do daily with six of them in there.(it's also waterproof)
and Condo II with the doors open and top flipped back.
(allows for easy cleaning of all levels as well as exits/entry for the buns)
and a close up of the second level where I created a maze/hidey house from cardboard flat boxes and a hay house/toy, also cardboard.
The bottom floor has their litter box, food dishes and water botles, cardboard boxes to hide in and an "igloo" that they love to climb on.
and when I take the kits to visit my work, they share a smaller cage.
