anyone have pet rats?

I rescued a rat yesterday. his ownercouldnt keep him or his brother. I took one (mowgley) and myfriend took the other (Amadeus). They came with large cageswith plenty of toys and enough food to help us transition them over towhatever we picked. Anyone here have ratties? Anyadvice? Or things to look out for? he is in our laundry roomright now in case he can pass something on to our rabbit or dogs.

I have one pet rat named Pancake. She is afemale. One health concern is colds. The pet store I got Pancake fromhad a problem with their rats having cold b/c of one they took in. Ifany of your new ratties start sneezing/snuffling a lot you should getsome medicine for him. I *think* your local pet store may be able tohelp you out, if not, a vet ((i really don't trust pet stores anyhow))

The best thing you can do for a rat is get another rat. They need to be in pairs at the very least.
