Move has messed up our litterbox habits!

Hello bunny friends! I'm having a bit of an issue with Meeko, and could use some advice. Meeko has been with me through three moves now, the most recent being last week. The other two moves, he has done great! Spoiled bunny that he is, he has a large hutch that my dad made for him, that has...

    Rabbit peeing in dog bed!

Hello friends! Since my last post, I found out that Meeko is... well... a boy! He dropped rather late, but one afternoon I was trying to clip his nails (something he hates!) and noticed... furry little balls! Still having trouble remembering to call him a he, bless his heart. But the fact that...

    Orange urine?

Is the urine a regular consistency? Or is it sludgy? As people have already said, rabbit color does change color, but if there's a different consistency, it might be best to get to a vet! That was the end for my Skippy. :(

Apparently hit the age for nesting/burrowing...

So Meeko is probably almost five months old now, and yesterday, she was acting strange. Chewing EVERYTHING she could get her mouth around (including giving me a nip, which she's NEVER done before) and burrowing in her brother (my beagle's) dog bed blankets. I did a bit a research, and realized...

    So I don't think she's REALLY a dwarf....

I'm sorry. :( Thank you for your thoughts though! How does one tell the difference between a mini and a standard Rex? Or is it a matter of just waiting until she's full grown to realize...?

    So I don't think she's REALLY a dwarf....

Long story short, I rescued my bunny Meeko from a guy who was selling bunnies under the age of 8 weeks, and knew NOTHING about them. (My first bunny, Skippy, was from the same place, though I got him from someone else who had bought him there. He died a week later because he had been taken away...

    Does your bunny lick you?

Skippy was SO affectionate when it came to licking. Face, hands, whatever he could reach. The only time Meeko has ever licked me was when I rescued her from the flea market she was being sold at, and I think that was a 'thank you for getting me out of there'! sort of deal. I know she loves me...

Bells -- keeping tabs on bunny?

Question for those of you with experience and dwarf/small bunnies: how do you keep tabs on them when they are free-roaming in the house? I don't mind her being out and about, but I would like to know where she is. I was thinking about a harness with a bell, since I know collars aren't preferred...

    Sealing cracks on hutch?

So my dad built this amazing wooden hutch for me, and both of my buns have loved it. (Skippy sadly only got to use it for a day, but Meeko is having a ball!) However, I have one issue. On the inside, along the bottom, is enough space for poop to get squished in, and for pee to run through...

    Meeko

Yesterday, I went to check out the place where our friend had originally purchased Skippy and his brother (who also died.) It was a local flea market stand. There was only one bunny left (and tons of other animals such as birds, lizards, mice and spiders) and I got the seller on video (by...

Where to report illegal bunny sales?

As posted in my Rainbow Bridge thread, Skippy passed away due to being weaned/removed from his mother weeks too soon, and thus he did not get what he needed from mom's milk to survive bacteria and infection. I know it's illegal to sell bunnies under the age of 8 weeks... and Skippy had to have...

    Skippy

Though I know I made Skippy's last days wonderful... he unfortunately could not overcome the past care (or lack of) that he had received, and having been separated from his mom at 6 weeks. I did everything I could for Skippy in the ten days I had him, and I know he felt loved, and I know he...

Is this regular pee or bladder sludge?

So it looks like the icky consistency is gone, as the pee is liquid now. But the color has gone from orange to red. (And I'm really hoping this isn't blood. I tell myself that rabbit pee changes colors, even to red, but he hasn't eaten anything other than pellets and hay....) He isn't showing...

Suddenly using food dish as litter box?

Only cleaned it with water and a rag, so nothing scent-wise has changed. :( He's 7-8 weeks. The person I got him from had gotten him from a flea market at 6-7 weeks. So he's very young. I'm doing the best I can for him. And he's been SO great even with that disadvantage. But it was just like he...

Is this regular pee or bladder sludge?

Thank you for the info! Doesn't look like I have a rabbit-friendly vet nearby, but I can go to Tampa or Orlando as I'm right in between. Thanks! :)

Suddenly using food dish as litter box?

For the week I've had him, Skippy has been pretty good about peeing in one corner of his house. He poops all over it, of course, but that's okay. But suddenly today... he's started peeing and pooping in the food dish. He's peed it in twice today. (I already cleaned it out once and put fresh food...

    New bunny mom!

Thanks for the clarification guys! Good to know what he is. :)

    New bunny mom!

Thank you for the welcome, guys! :) Yes indeed, I have cut the carrots he was getting out of his diet, as I had read that he didn't need to be having those yet. So right now he gets hay and pellets. And he seems perfectly fine with that! I'm also trying to identify breed. I thought he might be...

    Skippy

My wonderful little rescue! The sweetest little guy with such a great temperament. He's an Agouti Dutch, currently 7-8 weeks as of this posting (11/7). He was purchased from a flea market by a family friend's father, along with his sibling. But when the sibling died due to the family friend's...

Is this regular pee or bladder sludge?

Yes, it's fairly thick. I've removed veggies from his diet for now, as I had read they shouldn't have them until 12 weeks or so. The feed, which was given to me by the original owner, is "Small World Complete Feed For Rabbits". He's eating timothy hay, which is what she started him on without...
