Wood Pellets for Litter

Hi everyone,

We bought these pellets at Lowes this morning. It was the only kind they had, but I wanted to make sure it was okay to use as litter for the bunnies. Here's the bag:

From what I have heard, hardwood pellets are not good for litter. They can contain...oh, I can't remember. But it is a wood that is toxic to both horses and rabbits. Plus, they're apparently not very absorbant.

Softwood pellets are best. The only ones I've found are the ones made specifically for horse stalls. Apparently they're hard to find otherwise because hardwood burns better.

This pic is from my phone (low quality) that I sent my husband when he picked some up for me.

Mine are made of pine. I got them from a feedstore that sells them for horse bedding.

They work great. Very absorbant of both urine and odor.

I don't know about hardwood.
