I currently had a rabbit book infront of me from the 80s. It is writen by a Brittish auther and rabbit breeder. Anyway, it has a lot of diffrent weeds/wild grasses rabbits can eat. So far all I have identified in my yard isDandelion and Comman Plantain. The book says both are like a super food for rabbits, very healthy and no stomache upset worries.

I let the rabbits in the grass here and there but I thanks to a toxic list I found at least two types of weeds in our yard that are toxic to rabbits. They are not in the part that the rabbits go in but it really had me thinking.

Does anyone have any good information on grasses/weeds that are very good for rabbits that I could find here? I have decided to start gathering grasses and such to feed them each day so I would like to find more than two types.

Oh, and is there a diffrence between clover and shamrock? I have always her clover was good for rabbits, and then I read shamrock was bad for them. They kind of look the same to me.

A good place to start looking for plant information is the USDA. They have a huge plant database, and you can search by region or by state. The link for Kentucky is this:
http://plants.usda.gov/java/stateSearch?searchTxt=&searchType=Sciname&stateSelect=US21&searchOrder=1&imageField.x=86&imageField.y=11

You can also try your local Native Plants Society, the Kentucky Native Plants society can be found here: http://www.knps.org

These should get you started finding out what grows in your area, and then you can compair the plants you find to the list of edibles you have.

Shamrock can be clover, especially if you're living in Ireland, but the same name is also used for a different plant, a type of Oxalis. (As well as red clover, and other 3 leafed plants that look like clover.)

Oxalis is also called "woodsorrel" or "sourgrass".
It's edible, the kids at the school I worked at loved to munch on it. But I wouldn't give too much to a bunny, because just like spinach, it contains a lot of oxalate (rather obvious, with a name like Oxalis :)) which can play a role in the formation of kidney stones.

You can go to my Facebook page. I have several pictures and some info of the weeds I pick to feed to Hershey. (He LOVES them!) I think most, if not all of them grow in Kentucky also.

If that link doesn't take you right to the pics, just find my page. Search for either golfdiva or Debra Land, go to my page, then to albums, then to Wild Plants that Pet Rabbits Can Eat.

And yes, Shamrock is probably different from clover, depending on which plant you are calling a Shamrock!
