Hi I have a holland lop and I figured she was blue tort since she looked so much like my other bunny who is a blue tort, but then took a closer look and decided she can’t be a blue tort. She has a white underside, white butterfly nose markings, and a white chin. She just doesn’t have the “tort” markings of a blue tort. I was thinking possibly a squirrel. Any advice would be appreciated. 94156491-AC29-4E70-A15A-D5A98AB099DB.jpeg

I thought blue otters faces were darker, but maybe not all are darker?

She was bred to a black tort and she had two babies, one with a white belly and face markings and the other no white. There was a pink one too but unfortunately it was stillborn. I thought the kit with the white ears and white belly looked like a black silver martin, it also has a little chestnut/orange on its head and around the eyes coming in.

No, not in my experience unless you are referring to the lacing around the nostrils.

The only other color she could be is a opal, but usually opals have no white circles around the eyes. Opals have color bands / circles when their fur is blown into, as well.

Black is a very dominant color, and pops up often. It all comes down to genetics, but torted otters and other variants of otters / torts could come from this pairing!

Blow into its fur (over the back) so we can see the undercoat/undercolor, and post a picture here. That's the best way to tell with some of these colors. Could be Opal or Blue Otter. Opals have agouti rings, blue otters should have a solid colored hairshaft. Just from this picture she looks more like Opal to me.

That's exactly what I meant, you just worded it better 😂

Here it is. She seems to have a white undercoat with darker rings sorta And what do you think of her babies? Possibly black silver martin and black??

She is definitely an otter. Time will tell with the babies coloring! One is definitely a black, the other could be a otter, marten, or chestnut.

The kits are black and chestnut! I looked up a colour calculator and put in tort and opal, and the first colour named on the outcomes was chestnut followed closely by black and a few more colours.

she could simply be some "oddball" colour from poor breeding.

She doesn't look like a blue otter to me. Does she have a triangle of brown behind her head.

She looks more like an opal.

If she had black and chestnut kits when bred to a black tort, she has to be opal (or squirrel). If she were an otter, chestnut would be impossible out of that combination (as both chestnut and opal are agouti colors and agouti is dominant)

Ok thanks for your help. I do think she is an opal, and yes she does have orange behind her head. Here is her kits 2 weeks old.
