My besutiful english angora lily has a tumor in her rear leg joint just around the hock. She is 4 will be 5 in july. This isnt something i was prepared for. Initally it was thought she had an infection. Vet said because of the location,it being smack dab right in the joint he just cant remove it. So we are looking into amputatio.

I can handle the aftercare. Its the thought of doing this that bothers me greatly. Any advice?

I set a go fund me up in the hopes i can get some help with this. Shes such a love. Never thought shed ever go through anything like this.

I don't have experience with it, but have read others accounts that their rabbits cope just fine with one less limb. Plenty of great stories out there. One thing mentioned is not being able to clean out the ear on that same side. So that is something you will want your vet to instruct you on how to handle. Also the need to watch for sores developing on the remaining hind foot. Best wishes for the surgery and the recovery going smoothly.

*hugs* So sorry for what your bunn is going through. It sounds like, if you can afford it, she could still live a fairly normal life after surgery - I would go for it if it's an option.
