I saw a really cute video of a bunny named Simon walking upright:

Impressed, I decided to try to train Iggy, my 3 month old lop. Here's day two of training (and me fiddling with the camera to try and get a good shot, craisin in the other hand, which made for a less impressive trick, but still cute). He learns fast.. I'm going to try to teach him plenty more and perfect this one.

And then here are Toot's tricks. She can open doors:

And ring her bell:

And Wally, who I miss terribly, using the "bunny trail" we made to help him get used to hardwood floors (worked great, he got over his fears very quickly):

Such cute videos! I love Toot! But I have to say, what the heck is that creature in the second video of her?

oh, ha (forgot he made an appearance)... That's Paxton, a Patagonian Cavy (or "Mara"). Third largest rodent (depending on rating by weight vs. height). They're related to guinea pigs... He was Toot's first friend, but unfortunately he recently passed away. He came from a horrible place and apparently was a "one in a million" combination of problems: Dental issues, skin issues, intestinal parasites, potty training issues, gut problems, etc. We knew before we committed that he was coming from a horrible place, but at that point we felt bad enough for him that we went through with the "sale" because we knew he'd be better off with us than where he was. Unfortunately all the vet care he received wasn't enough and we lost him anyway.. but we tried to give him the best life possible in the year and a half that we owned him.

Patagonian Cavies are pretty rare, but when you get them hand-raised from good breeders, they do make good pets for the right people. They're generally very compatible with all different species, too..

Wow! Paxton was an awesome dude. I'm glad he found his way to you, although he wasn't with you very long. What a strange and cool pet! It must have been hilarious to see a giant rodent and a bunny being buddies.

There are more videos of him on my Youtube page, but these ones are cute:

OMG Paxton is hillarious! I love how he prances around! And you can see Toot like "stop being silly and groom me!" in one of them. Thanks for sharing!
