As an active foster, many surrenders come to us already pregnant, or as a very young litter. We have limited space for fostering, so its of course helpful to keep litters together as long as we can. Having confirmed they are same sex , and there is no fighting going on, is there a certain age or milestone they should be separated as far as both from mom AND from each other? I know they don't HAVE to be separated if they get along, but they are less likely to get adopted if I have a Fluffle of 6. Ideally, two could stay together and have a good chance at adoption. So at what age should they be separated by if they are NOT going to forever live together? Either a baby with a mom, or a baby and the other babies (which of course they wouldn't really be "babies" at that point....

It's usually less stressful on the kits, to remove mom to a new pen and keep the kits in the area they are used to, to wean them at 8 weeks old. Unless mom is getting agitated with them sooner, then early removal might be necessary, though not ideal.

Separate males and females by 10 weeks, or sooner if any humping, aggression, or fighting occurs. Separate all buns by 12 weeks, or sooner if they start showing signs of humping and hormones.

If you're absolutely certain of sexes, if no aggression, agitation, or fighting is going on with the girl buns, they can sometimes be ok staying together longer, if they have enough space and aren't kept in too small of an area can help with this. You just have to be on the look out for signs of problems escalating, and separate before a serious fight can break out and injuries occur. Otherwise, they can continue to stay together as long as they're getting along without issues.

But if they aren't going to stay bonded together and be adopted together, I would separate by 16 weeks.
