Reminder: Check meds before using!!!

Just a reminder for those of us that keep meds on hand, always inspect everything before use!

I opened up a bottle of simethicone today. I had used it once before a few months ago and the expiration date was October 2010. The inside of the cap had a black mold or bacteria culture growing in it. Eww! Good thing I looked!

EWW is right! Best to give them a good sniff too before use, I guess!

The rule on meloxicam/metacam, in case anyone is wondering, is 6 mo after it's made into a liquid suspension at room temp it expires. I had to throw ours out from Ben's neuter, which I wasn't happy about because it's a good thing to have on hand.

Always check the expiration dates on the benebac gel and powder.

I believe that the old gel can be downright dangerous and the powder would just be ineffective
