What does it take to be a show jumping rabbit owner? i mean Bugs is a really high jumper but what do i have to do to train him?:?:?:confused2:Thanx 4 all your coments guys.:thankyou::thankyou::carrot:juggle
I would build a jump that is about 24" tall with the bars set about 2-3" apart. Start on a low height, about 2 bars. As he gets used to jumping, increase the height. It might take a while for him to be able to jump the full height, but you can just keep working on it. Remember that not all rabbits will jump as high on command as they will on their own. The current world record is 1 meter, but some rabbits can jump 48".What does it take to be a show jumping rabbit owner? i mean Bugs is a really high jumper but what do i have to do to train him?:?:?:confused2:Thanx 4 all your coments guys.:thankyou::thankyou::carrot:juggle
A lot would depend on the individual rabbit. English lops would trip over thier ears when running and the ears could knock the bars off. I don't think the V lops have as long ears, so it would depend on the rabbit. I would say that as long as the ears aren't dragging on the ground and don't get int the way then you could try it. Our club has a Canadian Plush lop which is similar to a V lop but he has shorter ears.Out of curiosity would a velveteen lop be at a disadvantage for this because of the ears?
I would love to teach my new bun this when I get him!
It's right up my ally.
I always wanted to do agility with a dog. But I don't have a dog. anic:
You pretty much has to bulid your own jumps. There is a website for per made jumps you can order, but they cost about $50-100 Canadian plus the shipping. They are located in Sweden or Denmark, so the shipping would be a lot. I have built a couple jumps for about $20 each including the bars and paint. You guys know your rabbits. could i just buy a jump, or is it better to build 1?
i think u do need a harnes because u need to leed ur bunny throught the jumps.old video, but here is Jenny just learning

even if there was comps or clubs here, are you allowed without a harness? Jenny doesnt do harness' I tried to train her to accept one, but she wont have it.
Unfortunately, there are not a lot of clubs out there and many don't seem to advertise much. You can build your own jumps (not hard to do) and work at home. You might even be able to find other people who are interested and start your own club.Ever since I found out about it I wanted to do it with a rabbit. But I haven't been able to find anywhere by me. I used to do it with my dogs.
