My rabbits ears are hot. He has been eating this morning and during the day. Should I put a frozen water bottle near him to cool him down? Or will that make matters worse? What do you normally do in this situation?

I hope your bunny was able to get cooled down and was ok. For future reference, this link has some good tips on helping to prevent heat stress in rabbits. Just one note I will add to what is mentioned in the link, and that is not to give a rabbit cold water if it is already showing signs of significant heat stress. Instead I would give tepid water and use external cooling methods to help cool my bun. If there are signs of severe heat stress, that is an emergency that requires a vet.
