Hi all

I have a spayed Netherland dwarf who is very vocal. She ‘grunts’ quite a lot- particularly if you pick her up as she doesn’t like it. She even grunts first thing in the morning as if to say ‘let me out’. She can be quite aggressive and will sometimes grunt and scratch it I stop stroking her. She also circles my legs in the morning and tries to bite and scratch them when it’s feeding time.

I really thought having her spayed would settle her and I’m not sure what else to do.

Any help/ words of advice would be really appreciated.

Thanks

I think your bun has decided she's the boss in this relationship and you are her subordinate that has to obey her every whim. The aggression is her getting upset at you for not obeying or understanding her telling you what to do.

So.... time to untrain that behavior and for her to learn that you in fact are 'top bun'. Somewhere to start would be to follow the suggestions in this link. You may need to wear boots and gloves to protect yourself during this process.

Also understanding how rabbits communicate may be helpful.

Thank you. That’s really interesting. I have done lots of online reading but not read that before. She also lunges when I walk past her- I assume this is to be ignored too?
