Hey y'all I have a few questions about Holland Lop colors if anyone could help me out. In March I got 2 pedigreed Holland Lops with hopes of breeding them. The male is a Chocolate VM and the female is a Blue Eyed White. The person I got the from recommends that I get a second doe for breeding incase anything goes wrong. Well I found one a little over a hour away that is good quality and a good mom. Could you tell me what the colors could possibly be from these?

Chocolate VM x Blue Eyed White
Chocolate VM x Heavy Vm Broken Opal
Do you think I should get the Opal doe?

Chocolate VM x Blue Eyed White=
- 50% BEWs
- 50% VMs/VCs
- I don’t know what possible colors would go with the VMs without knowing the BEW parent’s genotype.

Chocolate VM x Heavy Vm Broken Opal=
- 25% VMs/VCs
- Most will probably be chestnut/agouti colored
- You may get black, opal, and/or cinnamon depending on various recessive genes
- There is a very low chance of getting lilac as well

This site has a lot of good info on genetics in case you decide to study them to understand better.

Note: VM/VC rabbits are not showable so keep it in mind while breeding.

Thankyou! I've actually found a few other options as well and am trying to decide which would give me the best colors of offspring.

Alright so I have a few other options for does also that I found near me....
Broken Chestnut
Black VM
Broken Chin
Broken Black Torp
Chocolate Magpie
And then also the Opal VM
And which ever one I get would be put in with a Chocolate VM buck. I'm not a huge fan of Chocolate Magpies but was thinking it might help my chocolate ?

Note: These are all me trying to give some of the most likely colors, not the minute possibilities from recessive genes that neither rabbit show.

Broken Chestnut
- 25% VM/VC
- 50% broken
- Chestnut
- Maybe a chocolate

Black VM
- 50% VM/VC
- 25% BEW
- Chestnut
- Maybe black
- Small chance of chocolate

Broken Chin
- 25% VM/VC
- 50% broken
- Chestnut
- Maybe chinchilla
- Small chance of chocolate or chocolate chinchilla

Broken Black Tort
- 25% VM/VC
- 50% broken
- Black
- Maybe chocolate or black tort
- Small chance of chocolate tort

Chocolate Magpie
- 25% VM/VC
- Chocolate
- Maybe chocolate harlequin or chocolate chinchilla
- Small chance of chocolate magpie

There are lot of factors to consider as far as which is best and ultimately that is something that you’ll have to decide on your own. Some of the biggest ones to think about though are:
1. Personality
2. How likely it is that offspring will be showable
3. How well they would do if judged
4. How good of a mother they are (this only works if a doe is proven)
Good luck!
