Please help!!! :(

Any of you that are from central-valley California (i.e. Modesto, Stockton, Manteca, Ripon, Lodi, Tracy, Turlock, etc. or even the Bay Area!) PLEASE HELP!

Please list your favorite vet in your area that specializes in rabbits! And add the link to their website if you can!

My boyfriend's family's 8 year old rabbit Pero is going downhill quickly and we need a reputable vet in their area (they live in Modesto). It's their first pet ever, so they need all the advice they can get!

His symptoms are as follows:
- Not eating much
- Weak/no energy
- White mucus-like discharge in left eye which leaves his fur wet and stiff
- Bloodshot eyes
- Sneezing-like coughs as if he's choking on something and can't cough it out

My boyfriend thinks it's Pasteurella. Could it possibly be a dental issue? I've heard that they have similar symptoms.

Please suggest some tips so that they can keep their bunny as healthy as possible until they find a good vet. What should they feed him and should they keep him inside all day/air conditioned etc.

Also, I wanted to add, the eye puss is so bad that we're thinking it's an emergency... Is there any home remedies we can try before we get him to a vet??? Someone mentioned camomile tea, but I'm not so sure it's healthy for him.....

Another detail, about the coughs...

They're saying his coughs sound like he's fighting for his life. He gets on his two hind legs and uses the other two paws to try any get something out of his mouth like he has no air.

It does sound like an upper respiratory infection, and if their rabbit is struggling to breath then it does sound like an emergency. There really isn't a whole lot they can do at home to help him. He needs antibiotics right away. They really need to get him into a vet today.

It's best to get a culture and sensitivity done to discover what bacteria is involved and what antibiotic(s) would be most effective. Nebulizing may also be helpful at this point. As well as an anti inflammatory pain med like metacam.

Your bunny needs EMERGENCY care now. Sounds like respiratory infection that has lead to pneumonia type symptoms

Bojan's mom was able to gently rub Pero's eyes with chamomile tea, like Peter Rabbit's mama did in the story book. Pero seemed to like it and acted a little more like himself after his eye got cleaned out.

The coughing fits ceased for the night, so they figured emergency care wasn't needed, but a vet appt. asap was in order. Bojan and I found a reputable vet specialist in Modesto and made an appt. for yesterday in the morning.

Pretty much, the vet gave him a vaccine in which we don't know the name unfortunately (maybe you can help us out? It was like "B something" or Idk, something with a B). The vet also gave them antibiotics and probiotics, by the name of Supratrim. From what I read, it doesn't work all that well? I don't know, we're hoping for the best but the vet just said it's super common, blahblahblah. If this Supratrim doesn't work, we'll get a culture test. In the meantime, we're giving him all the food he can desire, and keeping an eye on his poops and pees.

Anyone have any stories about Supratrim?

I'm glad they got him into a vet, but I don't know how great that vet sounds. I'm not sure if sulfatrim would be the most effective antibiotic for a URI, but I guess they'll see if it helps or not. The thing with URI's is that they can be really hard to clear up and need the correct antibiotic, and sometimes it has to be given for quite a while.

Was the vaccine BunnyVac for pasteurella?

I'm not sure if it was BunnyVac but I do think the vet treated him for Pasturella...
