Hi everyone,

Right now I am using frozen jugs (like from juice, etc) to cool off my 2 bunnies that live on the porch. The problem is, the jugs create a pool of water on their tray when they melt. So the bunnies end up laying in it trying to cool off, and rabbit pellets/cecos get mixed with it.....just not a good combination. I was wondering if anyone knew of any other way to safely cool them off without creating a pool of water? They do have a small battery powered fan but it is so hot they need an ice block too. Things I have considered are:

One of those cooling mats - afraid they would chew it/eat it, anyone know of a chew proof one?

One of those "ice blocks" that you put in to keep food cold, has anyone tried this? Anyone know of one that has thick plastic so the bunnies couldn't chew through it?

This, but the reviews said it didn't last all day and had to be replaced several times....: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00416I40M/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20

Any ideas for a bunny safe "cold block" that would stay cold all day and not create a pool of water?

pardon my black humor. It's cold underground. that's where wild rabbits go during heat of the day. Make them an underground bunker.

It can be a challenge when temps get 90+ but we managed to make it thru our hot summers each year. They need shade and air circulation. We ran an extension cord to plug in fans. We used large Gatorade bottles of frozen water and used shade cloth around them to help get the temps down a little. We didn’t put a tray under the bottles, so had no problems with standing water.

So I found a few things (trying to solve the pool of water problem)...and I wondered if anyone had ever tried any of these? How safe would you say they are for bunnies?

Try putting some tiles down, or have a litter box with dirt in it in the shade. The tiles and dirt will stay cool, giving your buns somewhere cool rest. You could also make bunny popsicles out of fruit or veggies to help cool them off. Make sure that they have plenty of fresh cool water, so that they don’t get dehydrated in the sun.
