I am sorry for this OT post but I am so frustrated angry not to mention PMSy

Men might not want to read this =p

When I was 17 I started to get such severe menstrual pain that I wouldpass out, throw up, and not be able to move. I missed a lotof school because of this until I went to the OBGYN to discussthis.

Because of the severity of my cycles I was put on birthcontrol. Thanks to that little pill, I could function everyweek. I wasn't out of commision 2 days of the month.

Two years ago, I was put on a lower dose pill which brought oninstances of severe migraines during the last week of thepill. Now, this can happen to women not on the pill becauseof the hormones in the body. Instead of being put on moredrugs to deal with migraines once a month I was put onSeasonal. I have been on it for 9 months now and have hadonly 1 migraine in that period of time due to menstruation.

Now that I have my new insurance, I went to the pharmacy to refil myprescription, and was denied. So I called the company to askwhy. I was told "Oh this policy doesnt cover birth controlfor any reason, medical or otherwise" however this policyDOES cover Viagra.

I have a medical condition that I NEED this pill for to function like anormal human. Pharmacies have no control that Viagra is usedresponsibly, and say not with an affair or something likethat.

In my opinion that is hypocrisy. That someone can get a pillfor sex, but I cant get a pill that lets me live my life. Iwant children some day, I was told that having a child would help myproblem. But birth control is NOT why I am taking thispill. I am taking it to function.

::sighs:: so now I have to pay out of pocket for something that is anecessity. And I feel that the 'moral' background I was toldfor not filling my pill is hypocrisy.

So I apologize, I just needed to vent, bad enough I am already so emotional from a crappy few days at work.

I feel you're totally right! I takealot of medication myself and if it wasn't for the NHS here in Britain,I'd be rooted for money! Birth control on prescription isalso free as far as I'm aware. I get everything free as I'mdiabetic, but do take the Dianette pill for my polycystic ovariansyndrome, not as birth control.

I suffer from migraines too and I know how incapacitated it makes you,I can't even look around the room sometimes as it hurts, so I have togo to bed and sleep it off.

You should write a letter of complaint to them... LOL and makesureyou're pre-menstrual when you write it, it'll give it anangry edge to it! ;)

I know how you feel, I heard the other day thatour government will start covering costs for Viagra, yet my daughterwho is special needs (right sided hemopligiac) suffered stroke as ababy needed botox injections (1500 cdn dollars worth) in her right legbefore christmas. It was either major surgery or botox and wewent with the botox so that she could walk and use her leg brace (longstory complications involved). Our insurance wouldnot cover the costs and ohip in canada does not cover the costs forbotox injections. Now if she was in a private clinic it wouldhave been covered, its a war between insurance companies and ohip, Iknow I have checked out everything, made calls to government,ect.... Anyway, I am fumming made about this viagrathing:X

I think it's shocking that they won't helpyourlittlegirlbut yet will help men withED. ED is a serious problem, but not as important as thequality of life of a child, JMPO

In this country, it's also shocking that they don't give asthmaticstheir inhalers free, yet others with life threatening disorders geteverything free. :X I may get everything for free, but if my partner wants to prevent himself from having an asthmaattack, he has to pay 6.25 or however much it is now, to get oneinhaler!

Its not fair I know, expecially when so manyyoung women were put on the pill for medical reasons due to problemswith their period.

It just seems that HMOs are saying what people need and what they dont and they ARE NOT doctors.

Since the insurance company is refusing my pill, then they should coverthe pay from 2 days a month I spend curled up in a little ball, unableto open my eyes or move from the fetal position.

And not covering shots for a child is dispicable.

I think everything medical should befree,if is something that we need. I'm sorry you have had allthese problems with it bunsforlife. I agree the pill in your caseshould be free.

Blueyes65 - In UK all children under 16 can haveNHS treatmentfree, so in a way we are lucky. I'm sorry that your daughter couldn'tget it free, I bet it woud have costed you a fortune.

Ang, I am glad that I no longer suffer from Asthma. Mine went when Iwas about 15 it is daft thatDan needs to pay for it,especially as an attack could kill you!

Luckily he doesn't suffer so much unless he isnear cats or dust. Hence, I do the rabbit cleaning, etc. When he does, he's wheezing all night and it worries mesick. My friend Mhairi is really bad with asthma and when shewas unemployed she couldn't afford her inhalers. It wasdisgusting that she should have to pay for them! She hasattacks even just walking up stairs sometimes!

God bless the NHS, eh?! :? I appreciate what itdoes for those who are entitled to it, but some of the MRSA scares andstuff really make you wish there was more control over it... and I'm anex-NHS worker. :?

Delph I understand the problems withathsma. When Iw as younger mine was a lot worse then it isnow. I needed a breathing machine (nebulizer) and themedicine and the machine were not covered then. That wasalmost 1000 dollars from my family because I could not breathe.

Now my inhalers cost 15 dollars and I am limited to 1 amonth. I had bronchitis a couple of weeks ago and am notfully recovered. I used one inhaler in a 2 weekperiod. So now I am completely unable to refil myprescription and so I have to stick to a lot of vicks, coffee, warmcompresses and crap like that.

I had read in the paper recently that insurancewould begin covering Viagra. I renumbered back when we werefirst married and I could not afford birth control pills and insurancewould not cover them.

I am also mystified as to how this can be justified?

Sorry you're dealing with this Bunsforlife, Iremember how miffed I was when my new insurance wouldn'tcover me for the pill, and like you (although not the samecircumstances) I need the pill for medical resons other than not havingchildren.

It's so very, very nice living up in Canada and not having to deal withit like I did in the States. Not even being a citizen, I got a free papand a whole years worth of b.c. for only $16.00.

Now, I'm off the pill and am seeing why I was on it, although I amgoing to stay off it, because we're trying for a baby soon. We bothfigure if it happens sooner rather than later, all the better.

I wish you the best of luck in having a baby!

Dont I wish you could just send me your BC ::laughs::

Just been a stressful couple of days and this was NOT what I needed.

Anyway... gotta go head to the drug store and charge up my prescription and then to he... I mean work.

Its so strange how some countries cover somethings and others not, but this viagra thing! so help me if myhusband.....:XI feel so bad for you all, and thanks for yourwords as well. But thankyou bunsforlife for starting this sowe could all join your vent:p

I take the pill to help regulate my cycles everymonth, because I can go for months without having one and I had itchecked out by the doctor and it was because of hormones that's why Iwasn't having them every month, and that's why they gave me the pill forthe hormones and I take Aviane 28 day pill, that is a low dose pill.Myinsurance pays for mine.Maybe you can get them at the HealthDeptment, years ago when I didn't have insurance, that's where I got mypills at.I think they only charged a couple of dollars at the healthdeptment.
