Oh my they are so adorable. The tanand white one is a little piggy so big and that runt is justadorable. Yes I agree the runt should be Wilbur.Congrats

:inlove:I am in LOVE with the runt. I always pick the runt.

Have you picked names yet? :4hearts:

I haven't picked names yet because I'mafraid to get attached, I figured I'd name them at one week. They areboth dwarf mixes so the runt might be a peanut. Do peanuts usually livecause I'm in love with that little guy! He's got so much energry ( Igive him an extra feeding by himself because sometimes his belliedoesn't look full like the others) and he swirms like crazy! I lovethis site and I love getting feedback, thanks everyone for there helpso far. Please keep posting :)

Hey Alley, I know nothing about breeding, butsomething I've read here a few times is that peanuts rarely live...Ihope that is not the case here. Such a cutie! :p

Awww babies are so cute! I agree therunt is likely a peanut...And sadly they usually don'tsuvive. Is his belly big and full or wrinkled? (IOW is heable to nurse?)

Does anyone know if the liklihood of a peanut to survive is based onthe size of the breed? Like would a minilop peanut be mor elikely tosurvive than a netherland dwarf peanut baby?

I think its a good idea to wait a little while to name them. Lots of colors! Have you sexed them yet?

Sadly, most peanuts are not longlived. Gypsy had a peanut we named Darling and she was ableto see him through longer than anyone thought he would survive. His mombrought his precious life to an end. We were shattered. But it goes toshow that with love and determination even a peanut can overcomeincredible odds.

I jst read that there has been a peanut that lived for 7 months.

I am going to give you some links. I am giving you Gypsy'sfirst so you can see how shegot Darling going so strong.

Meet Wilbur (thanks for the name guys :)it suits him)

He kinda fits the description of a peanut but that doesn't makeme love him any less. He's a fighter and I'm going to give him the bestopporunity at life that I possiably can. He may not live forever but Iwant him to enjoy life while he's here. I'm amazed every morning I wakeup and see him because he's my last thought before bed. I worry abouthim alot. He's 4 days old and I'll take it one step at a time. Thankyou for all your suport and help and I'd like to bring Wilbur into thebunny forum family. :)

We had a runt that survived without any of outhelp. We just made sure that she got a little bit more of mommy'sattention and she grew up strong and healthy, looking just like herdaddy :D!

Same here. Here he is.

He looked like the first picture of Wilbur at the top, and the same size.

Hope for the best! Runts can look an awful lot like peanuts, as I cantestify, and all of my runts but one survived. And that one was myfault, an accident. The hindquarters on yours look too big anddeveloped for the peanuts when compared to the pictures in those links.

The domed forehead and tiny size can be seen in non-peanuts too. Therabbit inmy abovepic was really really strangelooking at 3 days. Domed head, tiny hindquarters, skeletally thin, andsunken stretched looking face. His brother looked even stranger. Theirsiblings were fat and healthy. Both runts grew up beautiful.

P.S. what breed are your babies? perhaps they don't even carry thedwarf gene. Hollands, Netherlands, and other dwarf breeds do.

Hey,

Sadly to say, Wilbur looks VERY much like a peanut, don't get tooattached out of prolly 15 in the last couple months, the longest livedwas 2.5 weeks i think maybe 3. There is nothing you can do tohelp a peanut, it all has to do with the insides and stuff.Sorry, but it happens all the time with dwarfs.

I'v seen a peanut, and that doesn't look likeone. Two rabbits out of my last litter had the exact same sizediference and it was just a runt, not a peanut, and he lived and is now9 months old and still growing, But it is very possible that I amwrong:D. Just listen to the more experienced breeders.
