My boyfriend bought me two beautiful mice when I visited him recently because my rescued wild ones had something, probably from the wild, and passed in my mom's care. Both of the new mice are females. Both came from the female tank at petco. One, Lunetta, is a satin broken agouti and the other, Solaris, is a (kind of)long haired broken agouti. Solaris is mostly agouti while Lunetta is mostly white. Anyway, I got them both home and settled in a brand new 10 gallon, and for a few days everything was fine. Now they're getting a bit thick around the middle. I'm worried that they're pregnant. I haven't had mice in years, I mostly had gerbils growing up, so I don't know what a pregnant mouse is supposed to look like. But they look like pregnant gerbils, like they swallowed a ping pong ball when viewed from above. Can anyone else more experienced with mice give me an opinion?

I know nothing about mice and can't help you there, but all I have to say is "holy crap, they're cute!!!" I just want to snuggle them!!

I have 3 female mice. I wish I could help you but I've never had pregnant mice but I will say mine are very fat in general.

I have these websites saved about mice care and they have some breeding/pregnant tips maybe they will help you. The 2nd link says you can't tell they're pregnant until about the 3rd week and it takes 3 weeks for the babies to be born.

Looking at my mice I really just think those are the natural mousy curves. I've had my mice for a while now and I haven't had any babies so i know they're girls. I just topped off the food bowl so I didn't want to get them out but I snapped some pics so you could compare if you want i'll take more underside shots. Your bellies are quite round but I've thought my mice had round bellies too.

The first two pics are Evee my smallest mouse her curves are less noticable. the other two pics are Francis she's a bit bigger. But Piper who is hiding is a little bigger than both of these mice.

just going to leave links because the pics might be big but::

here's Booth a few days before she had babies. She's a hamster but I figure mice probably carry about the same way. I thought she was pregnant but she didn't really show until a few days before she was ready to have her kids. These are the shots I took then.

As you can see, it's all junk in the trunk - lol. Or at least weird bulges on her sides where she's usually smooth. If mice are like hamsters though by the time they start to show you know you've only got a few days left. Your mice might be building nests because that's what they want to do and it has nothing to do with babies. My hamsters build nests randomly, even the boys sometimes. If they are pregnant though, congrats! and let us know how it goes. With pictures!

ps - that's a flex seed stuck in her fur, not a bug. lol.
