Mini Rex - Standard Rex
It's their wonderful soft fur which distinguishes Rex rabbits from all others - rex fur has guard hairs and undercoat of the same length, so that it stands up instead of lying flat. It looks and feels just like velvet - hence their nickname, "velveteen rabbits". Once you've felt rex fur, it's unmistakable - and addictive.
Part of the mutation which created rex fur also affects the whiskers, which are short and kinky instead of being long and straight as in other rabbits.
Mini Rex rabbits are known for their intelligence and personality, and make great companions. As you can tell, I've had two of them.
Standard Rex rabbits have an adult weight of 7.5-10.5 pounds. Mini Rex rabbits are about half the size - 3-5 pounds. They come in many different colors - solid, agouti, shaded and broken.
