Is Jute Safe?

Hello everyone,

I have no flooring in Newts pen and I noticed he was having a bit of a hard time with slipping on the linoleum. So I bought him a little mat and it really helps, but it doesn't really cover much. Then I saw a large mat made from jute so I bought that, but I want to know if it's safe for him or not before I give it to him. So far he hasn't shown any interest in chewing his current mat.

Yes, provided that it is not dyed or otherwise treated. My rabbits have jute/sisal rugs and love them!

Oh good, thanks! It's just that I've never heard of jute before, but it looked natural so I thought it would work.
