Hello everyone!
Last night I noticed that some of the insides of my rabbits ears are blue!! I called the emergency vet, since my vet was closed. They sounded a little confused (understandably!) and said that they had never heard of that before and to watch them and to call my vet when they are open again (which is tomorrow). They are all eating, drinking, pooping, and acting completly normal. This morning I saw that one of them had white-ish discharge coming from her nose. I was texting with my rabbit friend, and she metioned them possibly having Pasteurella. It was also metioned that the blue ears could be because of the lack of oxygen since it is a respiratory problem. I am very worried, because I have a lot of rabbits, and a tight budget, and it is apparently also the same thing as Kennel Cough in dogs, and I also watch dogs in my home, and I don't want them getting sick! (I of course don't want my rabbits or dog to get sick either).
Right now I also have one rabbit on antibiotics (enrofloxacin) for and infected cut. I also had a rabbit with a bot fly larva not too long ago. I also have a young rabbit with splay-legs (from an accidental brother-sister breeding).

Do you know what the cause of the blue ears are? Is it Pasteurella? Should I pause on my dog sitting? Will it spread to other animals, such as dogs, cats, or gerbils? How should I treat them? Could it harm people, too?20190902_081235.jpeg20190902_081439.jpeg

Haven’t heard of pasteurella causing blue ears. Hopefully you’ve isolated the rabbit with the discharge. The vet needs to do a culture on the discharge to find out if it’s pasteurella or not.
Dogs can get pasteurella but it’s a different strain from what affects rabbits.

Ok, thank you. I haven't seen any discharge, sneezing, etc. since then, so I think everyone's fine? She has been being quarantined since Monday. My vet doesn't seem too concerned about the blue ears, but it is odd that it appered on a bunch of rabbits pretty suddenly.

I have also noticed My young bunnie with discharge from his nose and eyes it went away after a few days but then I noticed his ears are starting to go blue and he’s sneazing a bit what can I do to help him, our vets have said they don’t know anything about it since they don’t specialise In rabbits

It would be best for you to begin a new thread rather than posting on an old thread.
