Hey guys, so my 3 rabbits have ear and fur mites with have of them having severe ear mites with crust already sticking out of its ear.

I just bought the horse wormer called Equimax with 1.87% ivermectin/ praziquantel 14.03%. Is it okay if I give a pea sized to my rabbits?? And if so, what are the dosage per size? Thanks all. I’m super stressed 😭

Do not give that to your rabbit. You do not want to give them Praziquantel. I would get pure Ivermectin from the vet. Here are 2 links:

Where can I get it? I’ve been looking so much and researching but I can’t afford Revolution or anything like that. Any recommendations for cheap alternatives? I’ve used olive oil for ear mites but hasn’t fixed the problem. Fur mites are just still there

I would never use the horse paste. It's too difficult to calculate the correct dose, which means that ODing is a very real possibility. It has happened.

Vet is best, but I have used the 1% injectable ivermectin available otc. I give orally after removing the needle, dosed at 0.4mg/kg, which is 0.018cc per lb of body weight of the 1% solution , 3 treatments at 14 days apart. It's a miniscule amount. Correct dosing is essential or an OD can occur.

Be aware that some rabbits can be sensitive to ivermectin where it results in ivermectin toxicity . Blue eyed whites, dutch, dwarf hotots, and vienna carriers are most susceptible. It's like the MDR1 gene in dogs.

I also think it would be best to take the rabbit to a vet.
But, if that is not an option, I found this: https://www.amazon.com/Ivermectin-P...&sprefix=iverm,aps,236&sr=8-3#customerReviews. Many people used it on rabbits and said it worked. I personally wouldn't use it because JBun says it is not safe, and I trust her, but if you are in a tight situation it might be needed.
Medirabbit says: MediRabbit
"Ivermectin: 0.4 mg/kg, PO (oral) or SC (subcutaneous injection), 3 times at intervals of 14 days (life cycle of Psoroptes cuniculi is 21 days); 0.2 mg/kg has been found ineffective."

You said you are using olive oil for the ear mites? How often?
Natural Remedies says: http://florida4h.org/projects/rabbits/MarketRabbits/Files/NaturalRemedies.pdf
"Using a dropper add 6-7 drops of olive oil into each ear. Keep the rabbit from shaking its head for a few minutes so that the oil can work its way into the ear. The oil will drown and kill the mites."

We’ve given orally the ivermectin 1% liquid for treating mites, but as Jbun said, Dutch, BEW and Vienna marked rabbits are too sensitive to use it on them. You can get it over the counter at Tractor Supply or feed stores. You must weigh your rabbits so you can calculate an accurate dose.

You can also buy mite spray for birds and small animals at most pet shops. Clean out the ear of as much gunk as you can safely do. A few drops of vegetable oil can help, then spray and try to work it in so it gets down where the mites are. Repeat after a few days, again, cleaning as much as possible beforehand.

I've always had success with this method.
